Was out hunting today in a spot where i know a big whitetail buck hangs out well out pops this little whitetail that literally had the crap beat out of it! the little buck came out twice during the day but was a little far away for a good shot. Would you have put him out of his misery if you could or wait for the bigger buck?

The small buck had some long gashes in the neck and shoulder areas and could barely walk, i have seen deer hit by vehicles doing 70 km/h that walked away much easier than this deer walked. I think the bigger buck must have pinned him down as there are no vehicles in the area, but that little buck was sure beat up!

The young ones taste better than the big ones, and a buck in the hand is worth two big ones in the bush... right?
I dunno, guess it depends on whether you have enough meat in the freezer already.

Well the scrapes the bigger buck has been leaving on the trees out there should have been a good warning for the smaller buck, just kind of sucks the little guy is probably gonna end up as coyote food.
the small one ,will lick its wounds for a few days..then just when he is feeling better..

Don't think he will make it that long, never have seen a deer beat up that bad, 1st time i saw him this morning was at 8:17 this morning at near 3:30 this afternoon he appeared to be in worse shape.I guess it's like they say women will get you into trouble everytime.
I could see sealhunter doing a video along these lines sometimes..
I personaly am a meat hunter, i've passed on animals because they were too old and aged. Little buck in my sights would have hit the ground without a second thought, and i'm sure he'd be tasty too!
What do you think the meat would look like under all those gashes? One word. Unedible.
The big guy? Probably so smelly that you couldn't stay in the kitchen while he was cooking.

I'd set up and rattle the big fella out so I could eye him up an see if he's worthy of gettin knocked on his arse...
I have been trying to get the big one out for three days now but he seems to be nocturnal right now, every morning there is fresh scrapes on the trees but i have sat and rattled for three days now and he hasn't shown himself. The trees he is rubbing are all in the shape the small deer was in, some of the trees are torn a good 1/2 deep into the wood.Last year i saw a huge 6x5 in the area after hunting season ended, i am thinking it is probably the same deer.
