I recently sold some and gifted some rifles and now I'm feeling the itch again and I do have a theoretical gap in my caliber line up. As it stands now I have
17 mach2
22lr 8 to be honest
22 mag
223
Soon to be a 25/45 project
25/06
300 savage
308 win
300 win mag
45/70
458 win mag
50 Cal muzzle loader. 4 of them
I'm also planning a 458x2"

As you can see I've got the bare minimum. I've got fast and flat. The 30 cal itch was scratched except I'm missing a 3030. I've got a heavy hitter and a close range gun but I'm feeling wrong for missing something between 30 and 45. I've been tempted to do a wildcat something in 40 and I've had an interest in the 35s but there's so many options.
What would you add for hunting rifles? I will be hunting everything Ontario has to hunt as well as some deer and bear hunts south of the border

The reason you're getting lots of different responses is that your idea that you have some sort of "gap" for hunting "everything Ontario has to hunt as well as some deer and bear hunts south of the border" is just silly. There are several in that list that will already to that perfectly. Now, is you want more guns, go right ahead, but asking people to fill a "gap" that doesn't exist will get all sorts of answers until the suggestions just don't make sense, or you can't possibly buy them all.

Stop looking for a gap and just buy something you always wanted to play with.

I'm kind of wondering something similar.

I have several rifles that all basically do the same thing in the 270/7x57 class and a 300 Win Mag.

Don't need a .458 but a buddy has some larger bores for sale and i was also wondering about a 338 or 9.3x63 range of rifle.
