What would you get? Tavor or XCR?

Out of pure armchairgeneralism , never firing either , I would have to say Tavor (witch was adopted by countries for military service)as a service rifle. I am unaware of any country using XCR for service.
It would also be a preference of a bullpup design or not.
On the other hand the modularity of the XCR is desireable as well. I am confuse.
Good luck and buy both if you can afford it..
Just dont tell the wife.

The only things better on the xcr- trigger, modularity, and bore to sight offset. I would love my tavor a thousand times more with a better trigger.

The Israeli units using it, hate the rifle and are fighting to be able to keep their M4's. Buy a Swiss.

What is it in particular that they don't like? I agree with Charles; I'd look at a Swiss and then an AR before an XCR. If what's appealing is the compact/bullpup feature you can always look at an FS2000. But if it's between a Tavor and an XCR, definitely the Tavor.

Money not being an option, I prefer the Tavor. It's a great little gun. My friend borrowed it for a recent hunting trip and loved it. I'll echo what Throttle_monkey1 has said... The Tavor trigger is a little crappy - if someone sorts that out it would be incredible!

I wish I had some insight to share. That's it. Since I already have a Tavor I had better get an XCR. Now to run that one by the wife. I'll say that it's for a comparison test for myself and fellow nutters. That should work ( Yeah Right! ) If you can, buy both and that way there will never be any doubt in the back of your mind. Of course that would just be showing off though!

Maybe Kel-tec will come out with a .223 RFB in the near future and you will have a third option. One that takes 10 round ar mags and has a more reasonable price. That's my plan anyway, to wait and see.

I'm also curious as to why Israeli units hate the Tavor.

He's just making that up. Nothing to back up that statement at all. The Tabor was rolled out in a way that would have the old guys keep their AR's for the longest, while the new guys started from the Tavor right of the bat. No one is "fighting to keep" anything, because the vast majority of conscripts either stayed with the AR or started with the Tavor. Those that are in reserve yes, got switched over, but I don't think the opinion of someone who serves one month a year counts.

I own both. I will be keeping my XCR and selling the Tavor once I get a RFBc. I like my Tavor, but because of a few things I prefer the XCR... I really like the 6.8SPC and it's turned out to be 1.5MOA in my XCR, so I plan on using it for hunting. The ergonomics are really good on the XCR, the Tavor shoots gas in my eye when shooting, the trigger is HORRIBLE on the Tavor. Cleaning the XCR is much easier than the Tavor. That being said, I still LOVE my Tavor and would love to keep it, but the boss (read:wife) says I can't order a Sub2000, an RFB, a Henry rifle and a Taurus Judge without selling something.... so the Tavor gets the ax as it's really the least useful for me as I can't use .223 for hunting in Saskatchewan, and for volume shooting my 858 is much cheaper to shoot....

For some reason some people are really down in the XCR, but I love it. AR ergonomics (maybe better) but non-restricted and in several calibres. I do wish you could get a lighter barrel for it as being only able to get the heavy barrel is a downer. In particular I can't say enough good things about the 6.8 SPC cartridge. It shoots wonderfully, hits hard and is accurate. If you do get an XCR, for 700 bucks later you could add a more useful hunting calibre. If you hunt that's a major advantage.

2 cents contributed.

Our marketing team was in Israel last month, a unit in the IDF is using out rail system right now. The main line units do not like the Tavor because the trigger sucks, its heavy and unbalanced. So, i have told you where my info comes from, what makes you an expert???????
