What would you like?

This suggestion is probably outside the area of manufacturing that you are considering, but Canada needs an ammunition manufacturer. Maybe start off with a line of .22 rimfire and shot shells. Then expand into the common commercial cartridges and components. If a Canadian manufacturer was producing quality, competitively priced ammunition and reloading components I would be a life long customer. The benefit that I see to the production of ammo, over firearms or parts, is the potential sales. I may never buy another, new, .22 rimfire rifle but every year I will buy thousands of rounds of ammo. That's my $0.02.

why does everyoe assume he'll be pricing whatever he makes to compete with norinco? do you really think he is going to spend hours to prototype, and manufacture just to sell whatever it is for free? norinco products are made cheap because of next to free labour.

i'm not doubting the quality that will be produced, but i do doubt that it will be cheap.

How about some decent "Black Rifle" QD scope mounts - a la Larue etc. - Cantilevers, Aimpoint mounts, risers etc. You don't have to sell them cheap, just make them solid, hold zero and easy on/off.

lol.... this thread is just bit silly, expecting a small operation to duplicate a product made by a well established manufacturer, with a fully automated assembly line, with one or two machines and hand full of staff and it has to be CHEAP!.

One of my buddy said it best " To makes a small fortunate in the ???? business you first have to start off with a large fortune"

Start off small don't copy what is already out there, especially copying something people think it is over priced, focus on item first do a small batch as a test, try not to finance your development of base the proceeds from your sales, because your product might not move off the sheves fast enough, any capital tied up in inventory is money lost.

How about a bolt action rifle with detachable magazines. Something along the lines of a mauser in .308... say with 20 round rock in magazines... Obviously you would have to clearly identify on the magazine that it was designed solely for the .308 Canadian Mauser box fed bolt action, and that it is strongly recommended against using in firearms other than it was designed for...

How about something simple to start: a replica of an M1 Carbine in .22 and .22 WMR.
+ 9mm, 40 S&W, 45ACP

Perhaps designed to accept a pistol mag that is cheap and available

I like the idea of having an M1 in 45 ACP that used 1911 mags, with all the Norinco product out there there should be lots of spare mags for someting like this.

Or one in 9mm that uses a SIG mag, also available cheap from norinco if one of our importers would bring in a cointainer of mags :D

Sigh..these threads used to get me all excited:D....but after reading about a billion of them with not one product yet built, I gotta say, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Best of luck, I hope you can pull it off.

while i would LOVE to see a PS90 come out...its a tad unrealistic.

i think something like rock solid optic mounts similar to Larue that will hold zero and be offered a few different models (at first) would be a great place to start
