I have been hunting for lever actions. NOW, i have a hunkering for a pump action to add to the mix of rimfires. I want something that is worth every penny spent and is only increasing quickly. What can be had for the 6-800 mark???
I watched a few vids of the old Winchesters, but they are way way up there in price.
what would you guys pick???? Name a few with model numbers or pics.

If that's your budget I would hold out for a Winchester 61. I've seen some really nice ones go in the $600 range at the auctions.
Thanks! Not really up on the auction circuit. If you happen to see one and its something you are not interested in...let me know!

A Winchester 61 or 62 should be obtainable within your budget. A Browning Trombone is another option that hasn't been mentioned.

Some I('ve) own(ed)...

good looking pics, the rifles were/are projects.

Top to bottom Remington 12C, Marlin 20, Win 1890. My Avatar is a Rossi, or most of one. All of them have their merits n' flaws. Do you like an exposed hammer? You'll have your own preference. Go to a few shows n' shops.Handle a few different models. Decide what you like, and go from there.

EDIT:

I've not seen a Cooey 35 in real life yet, nor fired a Stevens/Savage (box magazine style..)

OHHHH MANNNNN, The darkness of the wood on the Winny makes the heart thump!!!!
You see, I`m a gun nut huge! I love to scratch my itchy trigger finger whenever I get a chance, BUT.....there is just "something?" about the woods that makes me quiver!
Not to derail my own thread, but this peeves me to no end that a guy needs to HIDE their gorgeous guns. I`d rather hang them up all oiled up in G-96 and show them off when not in use!

You can. Storage laws don't preclude visual appeal. These are all "take down" rifles...They still look sassy in 2 pieces.
Looks good! What condition on a percentage would you say the Winny is? If you want: PM me details just so a guy knows what to look for and cost wise. I`m also have a rare semi-auto that looks awesome in take down mode that is up for trade for one of these.

Winny found a new home (with another CGN'er) a while ago. Wood redone, reblued, 5/10 bore. No front sight in pic, wrong front sight installed for a while...chambered in 22long. It did work, and I put a few rounds of CCI CBlong through it.

As suggested above, you can't under estimate those Brownings either...

...didn't you already try to trade me that Gevarm for a Lakefield mkIII+Savage 7+Marlin?

Camster i was lucky enough and tracked down the Cooey pump last year, boy is it a hard gun to rack with that modified bolt design.

Another strange pump is the Noble I've had two of them at one point, it uses a strange riser system you gotta rack that one smooth and hard or there is messups with ejections and double feeds :/

My favorite pump 22 is the Remington fieldmaster. Thought bout getting a Henry and a Rossi at one point but have passed.

For some reason i do like the Winchester 170/270 it is really smooth.

tons of options out there, just gotta find em.

A lakefield mark 3...i don`t think I would have ever went that route. I have a short memory, but I do know what I would spend on a mark 3 and it is not even a 1/3 of what the gevarm is worth to me. As for the Savage 7...I`d have to google it, i can`t recollect that model at all....I do own a Savage Axis though.

You should be able to find a really nice condition Winchester 61 in the $600 - $800 price range you've budgeted. Check out the gun shows and the EE. Be patient - there was 4 or 5 really nice ones at the Calgary Easter show. Win 61's are THE BEST hammerless, pump action .22 ever built!
Good luck
