I'm interested in this gun.. but would like to know what you guys think about it.
I like the feel.. nice and heavy, looks quality made, stainless barrel, and accu trigger.
I've owned mine for about 3 years. Shoots amazing. I can shoot groups at over 200+ yards. On youtube there are guys shoot 2 foot plates at 400+ yards.
Here is an awesome site, it tells you all about our gun and others like it. http://www.6mmbr.com/rimfiretactical.html
There is also tons of info on rimfires, scopes and downloadable targets.
Hope this helps
I cut the spring and set the trigger at about 1.5 pounds.
Its great!
I have one that I put a cheap Tasco 6x24 scope on.
It's been accurate and reliable(like most bolt action .22s)
For fun, I sometimes shoot it at 200yds., with a 32" hold over.
Great gun. Mine routinely shoots 1.2" ten-shot groups at 100 yds.
That said, individual guns vary. I also have a BV that shoots well. But a friend's BV often fails to eject. He's cleaned the chamber, replaced the ejector, tried different ammo - nothing seems to work. It's the luck of the draw.
thanks guys.. I'm looking forward to getting it soon : )
now.. I got a new in box el cheapo bushnell.. ( a replacement from a destroyed one.. lol ) thinking of installing it on that. regular sized rails I presume ?
you'll be happy with the rifle. It won't be long though and you'll have the itch for some mods to make it shoot better (than it already does). Soon you'll be be lightening the trigger with some spring adjustments. I would highly suggest dismantling the bolt and polishing everything in there. Same with the trigger. It really smooths up the action cycling and lightens the trigger up a bit. Good luck and enjoy it! it will be a fine rifle.
I'm not a fan of those stocks, but bought one (a 93R17) to hunt groundhogs with. Found that stock style to be awful for shooting prone, just seemed to jam my wrist at the wrong angle. Off a bench I'm sure mine...and my big hands..would have gotten along just fine. Love Savage rimfires though, I'd say go for it if the stock feels right to you.
