I think that it is about time that we start the annual.........

What muzzleloader you shooting this year, and
What bullet / sabot combo you using this year.


This year I am shooting a Knight disc rifle with a Redfield Low mount fixed 6X. I am relying on Hornady 300 gr XTP's in a Harvester Sabot ahead of 90 gr T7 FFG.

And you guys?

This is the second year for my .54 Lyman Trade rifle, and again it will shoot a patched round ball pushed by 80g of 3f real black powder. It filled 2 tags last year and hope it will do the same again this season.
 
Tulle ''fusil de chasse'', 70 gr 3F,4F in the pan, .62 cal roundball, .010'' patch with crisco, and as for optic; top of the line bushnell safety glasses!........

Still working on the ignition, will replace the 1'' flint for a 3/4'' flint.
Best 2 shots were apart by 1'' at 50 M...grazing the bull at 5 o'clock.I will not talk about the remaining 3 shots!
 
Just bought a Lyman Great Plains Hunter, with the optinal front and rear sights. Now comes the testing as to what it likes to shoot the best

Traditions Pursuit LT 50 cal. 250 & 300 gr Hornady SST's. 100 gr 777 -loose or pellets.
Traditions Hawken 50 cal. Shoots the same sabots accurately. 100 gr Pyrodex RS. However, the Hawken I use at our range mostly with roundball on our clubs blackpowder trail.
 
I just picked up a orginial 16 bore rifle made in Scotland, it should go deer hunting this fall. I have to get a ball mould and get working with it soon
