I have plenty of rifles to choose from, but this year I departed from my normal loading in my .280AI which was with a 150 grain Partition or a 150 grain Ballistic Tip doing 3000 fps, there is nothing wrong with my old standby load, I just had the urge to try something different. I worked up a load using 145 grain LRX’s and settled with an average velocity of 3085 fps, it shoots dang near 1/2 moa.

I’ve also got my 7-08 dialed in with 139 LRX’s, and I’ve tweaked up some 100 grain Sierra Pro Hunters in a Savage Axis, .243 Win.

If things need to be got after in closer quarters there’s always my REM 760 30-06 (20” bbl) loaded with Lapua 185 grain Mega’s

What’s everyone else gonna bring out?
 
I'm starting-off with my 7mm Remington Magnum. It loves the 140 grain Nosler Accubond. Velocities average 3,170 fps, accompanied with .300" and .400" accuracy at 100 yards. I never hunted with this rifle, only load development. Whitetail and elk will be my focused selection.

The rifle is a Tikka T3X Lite Veil Alpine. My back-up rifle is a Krico Model 600 Deluxe chambered in one of my favorite cartridges, the turdy-aught-six.

It'll be a pair of 7mms for me. My hunting rifle for a while now has been a Rem 700 in 7mm08, but I recently picked up a Ruger m77 mkII in 7 Rem Mag so I'm hoping to get the chance to use that one a bit this year.

I went for a hiking mountain caribou trip mid August and I carried my Merkel k5 30-06. I went looking for bison Tuesday and I have my cz550 9.3x62 and my 458 win mag.
Moose hunting in 2 weeks will bring an other 30-06 built on a Husqvarna 98 action and stock that have a pecard 1.5-4 in claw mounts shooting 190 speer impact bullets.
 
I finally drew an Ontario moose tag for my own back yard.
1st choice will probably be the recently completed custom mauser that I have a thread on.
2nd choice will be the customized Husky 9.3x62, that I actually bought intending to use it as a dedicated moose rifle.
In reserve is a first-year production Remington 700 BDL in 7mm RM. I finally found a load that gives the sort of speed I would expect from a magnum.

Unless things don't work out on the moose hunt, I probably won't even bother with deer. If I do, I'll likely be switching between the 7 Mag, and a Winchester 94 .30-30, depending on how I plan to hunt any given day.

Was on a goat hunt a few weekends ago with a buddy who has an LEH, carried my Montana 223AI/88 ELD m’s in case we bumped into anything that took exception to us strolling through the huckleberries.

Currently out waiting for the sun to get a little lower before the elk calling starts, but it’s the Montana 22 Creed/88 TMK combo this weekend. Probably stick with that until an elk gets shot, then it’ll get the nod for moose as well.

Not sure what I’ll carry for deer or black bears, but it’ll be a Montana undoubtedly.
 
Packed my 7mm rem Tikka for caribou and sheep this year.
Will be toting my 9.3 Husqvarna for moose and grizz in a couple of weeks.
 
For deer: 54 caliber Mortimer flintlock with 250 grain patched ball, and if it's too wet out 58 cal Hawken percussion muzzleloader with 450 grain conicals.

For bear: 58 cal Kodiak Express Double rifle. Both barrels loaded with 280 grain patched ball, and an 1892 mares leg in 44mag.
