Hey Guys,

Im looking for a new toy and the 2 pistol's i have in mind are the Beretta 92fs and the Remington 1911 .45 acp. Anyone have both ? what would recommend?
not looking for the size just the style.

Thanks

Both good choice, style wise.

Beretta for typical Italian class and style. 1911 for classic American good looks.

I love both but if its strictly Remington 1911, I think beretta has an edge. Very slight, but still.

Best of luck choosing.

Have you held both gun? The feel is night and day when comparing a 1911 to the 92fs.
If I had to pick one of the 2 I'd go with the Berreta simple on the cheaper to shoot 9mm round.

I love to shoot my G17 after a box of .45 1911,It seems like the 9mm has no recoil at all.You cant compare the two.

Personally,

I like 45 acp and the 1911

But both calibres are equally good. I recommend you hold both guns and see which one feels better in your hand.

Life is full of tough decisions... :)

All of the above replies. Get both :D

It is assumed you plan on shooting with your final choice. Before you decide on one or the other, look at the average price for a box of 50 rounds. Multiply that by the number of weeks in a year. Add taxes.
Et voilà !! You end up with a Wallet Thickness Factor (operating cost) that should be considered as well, unfortunately.

Have fun deciding. Tight groups.

The answer is simple, one of each. Other than both being handguns they are just about as dissimilar as you'll find.

If the budget doesn't allow this then pick one for now and get the other as your NEXT hangun. From a purely monetary standpoint this would lean towards the Beretta in that case so you can afford to feed it.

And in the meantime look at setting up a compact reloading setup for the eventual .45ACP gun and work towards that. There's not much to be saved by reloading 9mm but you can reload .45ACP for about half what it costs to buy the commercial ammo. A super savings that makes jumping into reloading well worth the effort.

My .02

If you don't reload go with 9mm as factory ammo is the cheapest. Will allow you to shoot more for the same money than buying factory .45ACP ammo.

On the pistols.... I've had a few Beretta 92 series 9mm's and, while no Remington R1, I've owned a plethora of 1911's in my day. Recommend both. Make sure you handle both before making your decision, though.

For example..... You may find the Beretta big in the grip. I did & eventually settled on the BHP MkIII for my double stack pistol in 9mm.

NAA.

I've had both, all the 9mm pistols are now sold. I prefer shooting .22 over the 9 (they "feel" about the same so cost wins) so a conversion unit on my 1911 fills the bill. As for Beretta vs 1911, everyone has their preference, I like the feel of the 1911.

I own a Colt 1911, Norc Commander 1911, and A beretta 92fs. Can't go wrong with the reliability of the beretta, I love my Colt. So you have no choice but to buy both....Sorry.

Also important is hand size. The 92 is not the gun for someone with small hands, but the 1911 feels great.

Have had both, and if I had to pick ONE to own, it would be the 1911, but if I wanted a "shooter" to take to the range and blast off a few hundred rounds at a time, definately the Beretta.

But make no mistake... you will end up owning both anyway :p

Get both. I have a Norc commander in 45 and just ordered a CZ SP-01 Shadow in 9mm. The 45 is great fun to shoot but I want to be able to put more rounds economically downrange with the CZ.
