What is a rifle like this worth? ;)

ZZK602 - I re-chambered this to .375 Weatherby Magnum a few years ago... and it hasn't shot much. It has a 14-inch length of pull, Leupold 2.5X Compact in QD rings. Bore, blueing, wood are all excellent.

Nice rifle... a pig for sure... but a nice rifle... not the chambering for me... wouldn't be surprised if you could tempt Douglas though.
 
I collect some Czech Brno rifles, and I've wanted a ZKK602 in the original .375 H&H and with the pop up peep for some time, but they're not usually offered for sale by those who have them. I'd say yours is worth about the same $ as the current CZ500. The 602 was made in the early years with a pop up peep sight, This one does not seem to have been so equipped, so no premium there. The re-chamber would be attractive to some buyers, certainly not to me. They were a bit higher quality than the current CZ 500, but used condition vs new would even things out IMHO.
 
Dennis; I would hazard a guess of $1200-1600 depending on the buyer. Looks to be a serious beast of a rifle, and not something I personally need. Knowing that a fine gunsmith like yourself owns it, I am sure it functions perfectly. The stock looks like a reworked factory stock of unknown origin made to fit that barreled-action, however, I could be wrong and its original Brno kit. Either way, a classy looking rifle.

Looks like the CZ 'Standard' stock. The ZKK came as a 'Standard' and 'Deluxe' (the latter has same, or almost identical, stock as the 550 Lux). I had a 602 STD in .375 in South Africa and friends had ZKK 600 STD's in .270 and .30-06.
 
I had the same rifle in 458 win mag, and it did certainly have a large amount of recoil due to stock design.

I got it with 4 rounds fired out of the box of 20, and still didn't fire them all off when I sold it. Mostly dueto the stock splintering into many pieces about 12 rounds through the box.
 
Nice rifle. I actually prefer this stock profile to one with a high comb which threatens to loosen your teeth when you have to mash your cheek down on the comb in order to see the irons. The open pistol grip prevents the knuckle of your shooting hand from getting wrapped with the rear bow of the trigger guard. By the way, the scope is mounted correctly for a powerful rifle that fits the shooter. What's it worth? About a grand less than it would be, had it been cut to a 13.5" LOP.
 
To engage the safety it pushes forward and locks the bolt handle too. Made in 1987 and it weighs 9 pounds without the scope, 9 and 3/4's with the scope. I don't know the history but I believe the stock has an nice oil type finish. the checkering looks to be original factory Brno... just an exceptional piece of wood...

That's probably about right in terms of weight for the Weatherby. Someone buy the damned thing so we can get a range report.
