I have a Bushnell Legend 5-15AO with mildot on my 17HMR and really like it, but was thinking of getting a (not too expensive) 1/4MOA or just plain fine line cross hair scope if I pick up a 22. Any suggestions without breaking the bank?

I just picked up a tasco 6-24x42 varmint scope for my marlin .17. Only been to the range once with it but am really happy. Holds zero for change in magnification and the target turrets actually work. No idea on how long it will last, but for $120 i'm quite happy with it.

Cheers,
Chris

By target turrets, do you mean they are adjustable without taking the caps off? I kind of like the child/adult friendly caps.

These are $108.00 in the latest SIR flyer. If thats the route you are going.

Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 with target turrets, mildot reticle. My personal fav under $200 although this might be over your budget for this project ?

Sort of both actually.. You take the caps off and have the target style turret for quick adjustements, then you can throw the caps back on if you please. I just noticed the sale price in SIR's flyer... Too bad i ordered it 3 weeks ago at the higher price.

Wouldn't the Banner be similar to the Tasco?

I got one of them for a BRNO...

i got the same tasco varmint scope for my savage bv and i just picked up a tasco 'kit' for the 10/22 . $50 from le baron; has shooting glasses, muffs and a 3-9 x 32 with mounts. best fifty bucks i've spent in a long time (then i spent another $200 on a stainless steel butler folding stock and a couple of smoke colored 25 round steel lips  )
