Ok Lee Enfield experts. What's the going rate on a 1944 Long Branch DCRA MP Marked No4 Mk1 worth? Rifle is in let say 80% condition. The barrel, receiver and bolt are all DCRA marked and matching #. I'm not sure of the serial # to check if it's on the confirmed MP rifle lists as of yet so for appraisal purposes lets just assume that it is.

Thanks Nutters.

It's worthless, useless, I'll give you $200 for it!? :p

Yes, 7.62. What I meant was that a "DCRA rifle" is not a 303.

Actually I saw two DCR marked barrel/actions still in .303 many years ago. I for one always asumed all DCRA No.4's were in 7.62. I do know not all were Long Branch made rifles. I owned one on a Savage and a Maltby. Think I had 5 or 6 over the years with the finest being a 1945 Long Branch, MP (RCMP) marked then converted to 7.62 through DCRA. All with awesome maple furniture, plus it was mint.....Rrrrrr if I could have it back for what I sold it for.

So far as I know "DCRA rifle" means a 308.

As a commonly used, but technically incorrect term, yes, but DCRA shooters were shooting 303 rifles along side those first 7.62 Nato Re barreled/converted rifles.

I suppose a more correct term for the 7.62 NATO converted rifles would be "7.62 NATO No4 Enfield rifles converted by Canadian Arsenals Limited for DCRA competition Use"

Also the DCRA holds a number of rifle types as lend out guns for competitors.

So a kind CGNer has confirmed that this rifle is in "the book" of RCMP LB's. Anyone know of any recent sale prices? Opinions on prices? It has a PH5C on it. Not sure if it's bedded or if any trigger work has been done. I am attempting to buy not sell. Thanks.

There's a MP marked #4 in 7.62mm in Milarm on consignment that has a $2400 price tag. It's been there since last summer. It's at least $1000 overpriced in my opinion. While the rifle is "in the book", that alone is not enough to justify a $2400 price tag. While there are a few serious collectors of MP rifles out there, not one of them had bit on this one as of a week ago, that alone should tell all one needs to know about the value.
As an example; Al Kerr had a proper DCRA #4 rifle in 7.62mm for sale at the Calgary show. The tag on it was 1200 or 1250 which I thought to be a good deal considering it was a proper unmolested example. That said, an MP marked unit around 1400-1500 would be more realistic.

That is the one in question. Price tag is actually $2499. Needless to say they didn't like my offer. It is very closely serial #'d to another LB I have which has me interested quite interested but no where near that asking price. Oh well....
