I have an excellent condition Port contract Mo941 bayonet I picked up on holidays last summer. Just wondering what it is worth compared to a standard German K98 bayonet?

If you can find the person who has the rifle serialed to the bayonet, that would be great. There ae a few websites where a database is stored of Port K98 Mausers. It would be fantastic to match the two up again:)
Failing that, I know a CGN member who is looking for one, I believe. PM me and I will let you know who.

I had already talked to him but decided to keep it, its the first piece of militaria I ever bought. But, if I were to find the original rifle it belongs to, that I would give it up for! Do you know where to find that database?

On Gunboards.com, you will find the serial number database for the Portugese Contract in the K98 section (stickies at top of page).

unless it matches the rifle it isnt worth alot more. Also your bayo and scab dont match each other so it isnt worth a fortune. Sorry to burst your bubble. It is worth bout what you paid.

That said, if someone has that rifle.....$200 maybe. I know if i found my H907 with scab id pay at least that if had t.

Welcome to the collecting club! Coyote Ugly is of course correct, Gunboards, look in the k98 Mauser forum and check out the Portuguese k98 serial database in the sticky section. Good luck!

Not a bad chance the rifle is in north America .... Saw it happen once at the Calgary show years back.... Rifle got separated from the bayonet, both were on Calgary for over 20 years.
