I was offered a Winchester 94 Klondike Gold Rush (30-30) in nice condition for $300. What are they worth. I think I am going to buy it(sounds cheap) but was wondering what they are worth. any help is appreciated.
Thank

Nice condition or New in Box? There were many of these made that have sat in boxes for years and have additional collector value. If it's been shot it looses the collector appeal, and I’ve seen them sell as shooters for about the same as any other Winchester. As they were originally made as collectors pieces some of the actions that I’ve tried are pretty rough. If you are going to shoot it try the action first. I would say that $300 is reasonable, and you could expect to pay an extra $100 if it was NIB.

My 2 cents

yup. it is about the going price. Too many of these commemoratives were "closeted" and now are really a dime a dozen. If it has been fired or has no box or papers, it is recognized as a fired condition putting it as a "shooter". Depending on condition, it may vary from 300-450...IMO. Buy it cheap and enjoy shooting it. All the big "collectors" probably have a couple already.

Nice piece. manufactured in the Winchester Cobourg Ontario plant in 1975. Total production was 10,200 and the serial number prefix is KGR.
Model 94 Winchester
30/30 caliber
6 round magazine
20 " barrel
NIB example currently is bringing 700 to 800 dollars in Ontario.
If it has been shot and the box and paper work is gone it is only worth 400 to 500.
All the Winchester Commemoratives, especially the Canadian issues will bring more in the U.S.

I have 3. They are worth $450-475 new in the box unfired.

If they are 700-800 in Ontario, I would be glad to sell them and you could make a good profit. Or sell them for me and I will split anything over $475 with you. Seriously.

Otherwise, they are just fancy shooters, worth the same as a new 1894.

It has been fired but not much. He still has the box but its beat up. I wasn't planning on keeping the box....just more crap to get in the way.

Have a look at this sight in Ontario. Remember they are getting an extra 13% in taxes. http://www.ellwoodepps.com/used_rifle_page_lever2.asp

A buddy of mine is currently in Florida. He spends the winter down there going to all of the gun shows. Guess what? No commemoratives around to be had. Your pieces (if new in box) would easily bring 900 to 1000 down there.

I have 28 commemoratives as we speak. Maybe we should broker a deal and both make some $$$$$

all are unfired inthe box.

If you want to send them south I wonder if Questar International would look after the paper work.
I am going to the Woodstock Ontario gun show on Sunday and I will have a chat with a few fellows and see if they are interested.
PM me with a package price on all of your pieces. I would certainly be interested in knowing what you have.

commemoratives

I never pay more than $300-$325 for new unfired commemoratives, that is .........if I have to buy them, mostly I just stay away from them if I can. When I sell, I can get maybe $400-$450 on a good day, mostly around $400. For 1 thats been shot $300 bucks is top dollar.

I don't even factor in the boxes anymore.....too many out there and you can't get em to the States.

Just my opinion.

TT

$300 is fair, but I wouldn't pay any more than that. You are much better off buying a pre 64, all the commemoratives I have owned have been cheaply made crap with horrible triggers and sights.
