okay, sorry for asking what I probably should already know ... but, can somebody please explain/elaborate on what the 12.5 and 12.6 Usergroups are?

cheers..

Those forums are for those gun owners, who through having the savvy or dumb luck to happen to have owned firearms which were made prohibitted back in '94, have the grandfathered right to own guns classed as 12.5 and 12.6 prohibs. I'd tell you more, but I was 15 at the time, so I'm not part of the club, and have no idea what wierd rituals they take part in, in that part of the forum. We can assume it involves goats, though.

Close. The 12.5 forum is made up of members who are directly involved in court proceedings fighting for the return of SAPs so that we can again be allowed to legally fire our 12.5 guns.
The 12.6 forum is made up of members who are directly involved in court proceedings to retain their 12.6 pistols and be classed 12.6. These are the people who legally purchased 12.6 guns, but then did not get grandfathered into the class.

I think it's a little silly to bar other members who are not in the middle of proceedings from access to those forums. Even though we may not be allowed to own the firearms, we may still be able to provide ideas and insights to the problem. Also, just being able to soak up information is a good thing too.

Thanks for the info/feedback guys.

I would imagine that one thought is that allowing all of us to participate in these usergroups would probably result in a lot of opinion being posted about how unfair and assinine it is to ban those type of firearms, etc. (we're all probably in agreement on this subject...) so what about giving us only the right to view those groups? Given the looming change of government we're probably going to be subjected to, it might help some interested members get up to date on some of the goings-on behind the scenes and in the courtrooms ... forewarned is fore-armed, as they say.

No kidding.......you are both 100% correct.

Of course did you stop to think that maybe Wendy and her ilk as well as the CROWN PROSECUTERS might love to know what we plan? I am sure they would LOVE to soak up some information, I am sure they would LOVE some behind the scenes looks!

I think that I am the LAST surviving 12.5 suit case still going thanks to CSSA. So if you want a chance to ever even borrow a 12.5 firearm send in your donation today!

Storm is spot on with his post.
I think we'd all love to share the info with fellow gun owners, but the fact is that there are people who are not onside who access these forums. The screening allows members who are directly involved in these hearings to share information, pass on any lessons learned, and seek advice from others involved, as well as from some of the experts on board as well.

I agree that forums where legal matters are being discussed should be controlled. I would want to know who I'm sharing any private info like that with, but I'm sure if crown prosecutors REALLY felt they needed to know, they'd find a way. But it's at least a good way to keep Wendy out. (my x-gf is named Wendy too, chemically imbalanced, bipolar, manic depressive. The good times were great, but......).

...now I feel real stupid having asked the question :bangHead:

Storm: let me wish you every success with your case.

I don't think I would have provided as much, or the kind of information I did, if there was a wider audience. Unless you are a lawyer I can't see how you could provide any further insight into the problem.

I agree that it would be informative for you but as I said, I would not have provided as much information. Then those who are really effected by the issue would not have had as much information.

Really we have been negotiating a deal with the Crown/Registrar/CFOs in order to give us the licensing status and registration for these guns. One of the conditions is that we don't expand the group of individuals obtaining this status. We all signed non-disclosure documents and can't talk about it to others because they would realize they can obtain the same status. Yeah right.

Believe it or not, there are guys out there going through the pain of the 12.6
problems that are not members of this site. I will do my best to funnel them to this site. I am grandfathered with 12.6 & own several. Some just because I can't stand to see the cops destroy them when some widow turns her late husbands guns over to them. Just went through a nasty concerning an old
Iver Johnson .32 colt gun. I lost.

Food for thought.
