Whats best? Fixed or mechanical

I've never bothered with mechanical, because fixed heads have always worked very well for me. I see no reason to switch.

I use fixed for deer (both crossbow and compound) without any problems. I think the key here is tuning your bolts and arrows with the appropriate broadhead. I use mechanicals with the compound bow for turkeys. I’ve never had a problem with the mechanicals, but have read horror stories online. Again, I think the key is getting your setup tuned properly before hunting to know what to expect, regardless of what your using.

False... I turned dozens of bows (and crossbows) for a local shop and there are fixed heads and tuning methods that will shoot groups as tight as mechanical heads... it starts with the proper spine and length bolt (arrow)...

You should come down here and work for the local bow shops

I will stick with mechanicals, the most accurate and offer the largest "slice", two of the most important features when archery hunting.

I have both. It's hard to beat a good steel fixed like a slick trick. The 1 inch standard is fine. Fly like darts and penetrate better. And blades so sharp you can shave.

I use Rage Hypodermic Mechanical on my compound bow. Mostly hunt from treestand with this now but use Carbon Express Lung Busters fixed on my crossbow which I use when I'm in a blind.
