I had a 10 guage and sold it. It performed very well for me on can geese even with steel. Some of my shooting is pass shooting some over decoys. I am looking to buy a shotgun was thinking about browning 10g but dont know about the new 12 in 3.5 chamb.

Thanx for any help.:D

The 12 gauge 3.5 is said to string the shot better and pattern more consistently than a 10 gauge... I am not convinced though. I think that the 3.5 12 gauge is a much lighter gun that performs almost as well as a 10 in most circumstances.
The 3.5 12 gauge is cheaper to shoot that is for sure.

Get the 12 Gauge it's way better for Geese!! A 3 1/2" 12 gauge will have about the same amount of shot as the 10 gauge, Yet shoot steel at faster velocities. Also there's a lot more non toxic loads for the 12. Oh and you don't have to carry a 11 pound gun lol.

Here's the load I use in my 3 1/2" for geese.

Kent Fast steel.
3 1/2" MAX Dram FPS 1625 Shot charge 1 1/4oz. Shot size BB

Where a 10gauge really shines is if you are a reloader. You can load some very hot but safe loads for the big 10, that they are not loading in factory shells.

A 10 is better at what it does than a 3.5" 12, but only slightly.

ps. anyone shooting at 70 yard geese doesn't deserve to be hunting them. imho

I'd go 12 gauge 3.5 for sure... Oh wait... I already have... he he he...

Reasons...
(1) Cost of shells
(2) Versatility of 12 over 10 gauge...

Here is my benelli nova...

Cheers

12 is by far a better choice unless you want to say I have a 10 , nice pics Jay always like to see the call- gun shot .....lololoo

i have a mossberg 835 ulti-mag, waterfowl edition and it is a great gun. I can shoot 3.5 shells for geese and 2.75 for grouse. Very versitile and with the overbored barrel and choke selection if it flies it dies
