whats better a DA grizzly mag fed vs a maverick 88?

Honestly it will be whichever you find easier/cheaper. They both work reliably, there's plenty of accessories that will fit either one (rem 870 parts for grizz, moss 500 parts for the Mav).
I find the grizzly feels heavier than the maverick, so if you're going to be carrying it a long way and not shooting it much, it could play into it, but either will be a reliable pump shotgun.

I have read here on CGN about the mag fed grizzlys not being reliable feeding at all.

I don't own one, but after reading that a few times I went with the non-mag fed.. and well, it doesn't feed well either :(

I have an 8.5inch (100rounds) and a 18.5 inch mag fed (2500+ rounds). I have yet to have one feed issue with either. I did have one issue with the 18.5. The slide release was worn internally so if you pulled the forgrip back and twisted it would release. A quick spot weld to fatten the worn surface up and its been great for the last 200 rounds.

I have shot both, Niether stood out as better or worse than the other. But I like the convenience of the mag change. I am able to keep the gun unloaded but a loaded mag handy while out camping or hiking without packing a loaded firearm. The mag fed will not fit in my scabboard thought. For me I own 2 other true 870's. Its easier to keep the parts the same.

I own a maverick 88. I cleaned it once in 3 years. It feeds, functions, and fires even with the cheapest shells. The only two things I will mention is kicks like mule way worst then my 590. Secondly, the action is a little rough you definitely have to rack it firmly. For the money through you can't beat it.

I don't own a grizz, but I do have an old mav and even though it's inexpensive , it's very reliable . Mines been kicked around and beaten up since 1990 and it still functions flawlessly.

I went with the DA tube fed personally... while the ease of loading with a mag was appealing, I didn't want to risk any reliability issues...

In all honesty, reliability is probably just fine on the mag fed, however I feel I can trust the tube fed 870 design with 100% confidence, I just don't have that feeling with the mag fed.
