What's better than a 10/22?

Or you could just sell one and use that $ to build a 10/22 that will out shoot both the T/C and the Browning, and have a gun that's unique to your tastes. I guess there's nothing wrong with having to shoot a gun that was completely designed and assembled by someone else, just seems sort of *cough* boring *cough* er...um....like taking the easy way out. :D

See? This is the result of the marketing success of the century. Produce a crappy gun and sell at a premium price based solely on the premise of "what it could be"

Lets see: gun: 300, barrel:200, trigger group 125. Stock:200, mounts, buffers, extractors, etc:150,

So: $1,000.00 dollars later you have a gun that shoots decent and managed to retaine the original receiver......and you are HAPPY with this arrangement! Pure marketing genius!

The same money will buy a truly outstanding rifle (Volquartson, HK, cooper, sako, enshutz, webley)....and not every other teenager on the firing line has one ;)

With soooo many options for the Ruger 10-22 it seems like the other manufacturers are kinda like after-thoughts just trying to fill in a small segment of the market. I always wanted a 10-22 MAG with a varmint/target barrel, and a laminate stock.

I've already got a mutt of a heavy-barrelled 10/22 with an aftermarket stock that shoots quite nicely....:nest:...;)

Anyone out there with a T/C R-55 Benchmark? I'd like to hear if the rifle lives up to the claims. I was considering buying one, but Cabella's suddenly upped the price by over a $100 and I went decked out 10/22 instead.

I just Googled the TOZ99, I never heard of that before.

Looks nice.

Yeah I received one for Christmas.

It was 200 bucks and came with with 4 magazines (5rdx2 + 10rdx2). The ironsights "flip" into 4 preset ranges (25,50,75,100 meters). It feeds pretty much all .22lr ammo (haven't tried subsonic ammo yet). It also handles very nicely and feels like a mini "SKS" in the sense that you #### the action in the same way and the gun ejects spent casings very far onto other shooters around you :D. The only problem I found with the gun is that the 10 rounder magazines are a little picky in which type of ammo you use; the 5 rounders, however, will feed anything. Also the gun itself is very accurate and is perfect for my needs.

If you want I come post some pictures.

You can find TOZ-99's at Elwood epps and some other places for about 229$. Here's mine

I love mine to. But be careful. Use only standard and subsonic loads. I've read a few thread about people using hyper load and breaking bolt handles. I use winchester 40gr hp sub and i'm very happy with it but cant say if it's better than 10 22's. Cheers

Oh that is a nice gun. I see that your model is lacking the big f**king ironsights found on my gun. Also thanks for warning me about using the hotter .22lr ammo. I googled it and found of that Europe has different standards than America when it comes to pressure limits on the .22lr round.

If I wanted it to shoot as well as the Browning or T/C, it would be more like this: Gun $250, barrel $200, Hogue stock $80, VQ target hammer $35, JB weld (for both bedding and working over the trigger group) $15. So more likely less than $600 would get you a gun that shoots as well a those two. A lot less if you didn't mind buying used parts, and less again if you sell your take off parts. ;) The Volquartson is a 10/22, that you paid someone else to work on. Then we move to high end bolt guns... I thought we were talking apples to apples here...:D

Sigh...the 10/22 is the Honda civic of the gun world. Kids buy them so they can hang a big ass tailpipe off the back, put in a big stereo and convince themselves it's a "performance" car.

The 10/22 is worth the reciever only....period. It really is a crappy gun, a crappy gun that requires several hundred EXTRA dollars to be a "decent" gun.....you can try and spin it any way you want, but thems the facts.

And for the record: I am a ruger collector...and the companies biggest fan. All todl I have somewhere north of 40 Rugers, but NO 10/22 (other than a couple 10/22 Magnums.....they are a real gun)

Yea. I took off the front sight and it looks much better. I talk about the bolt handle but there's also words of sear breakage with hyper velocity.

That's something you don't hear every day ! ;)

I've been impressed with what i've seen of the cz 512 but have not sot one. The standard 10-22 are too small for me.

My "performance" 10/22 has a Dlask receiver.....so I guess that makes it an Acura? :D

Lol....let me ask you something....if you have a dlask receiver, exactly how many parts of your gun are factory ruger? Just the bolt and trigger group? Can you still call it a 10/22 then? I mean, my Rhineland uses an AR trigger group, but I can't call it an AR can I? :D

The bolt is "technically" ruger, but it has been pinned, radiused, headspaced, has a VQ extractor and a Power Custom firing pin, as well as being jewelled. So, not really ruger anymore. I guess this particular rifle has the factory trigger group housing, pins, v-block bolts and charging handle (I like the factory handle, so simple) :D But the other 6 I own all have the majority ruger parts...but, yes your right, they don't shoot as well as the one I have $1000+ into, but everyone is minute of squirrel at 50 yards. w:h:
