What's everybody carrying this season for whitetails?

Won't make it out this year for centerfire but I was working up some nice handloads for my Rossi Puma 357. I had those 140 grain XTPs moving along at 1740 over the chrono but I'm sure I can still go a fair bit hotter. Next year I'll have all my ducks in a row.

Good luck on the hunt everybody!

on the 5th being this past saturday near oyen I was carrying my full wood lee enfield no.4 and it was getting pretty heavy by the end of the day. my brother had my marlin 30.30 and I was getting jealous. having the range advantage over the 336 was good peace of mind tho. of course carrying my WT buck tag, we saw no shooters but did see a dandy of a mulie buck...next year for sure...

Well, got out on saturday and took a good sized mulie doe with the Garand early in the afternoon (paced at 208yds, offhand. By far my longest kill shot to date) and a small whitetail doe with the BSA late in the day. I am now down to a general white tail tag (which is antlered in my area) and have yet to see a whitetail buck this year. The farmers in the area say they haven't seen any, either. Appears to have been a very heavy winter kill for the bucks. :(

I will be going out on Remembrance Day with my hunting partner and my son to see if we can't fill the partner's antlerless mulie tag and maybe bag some grouse. With the heavy kill of whitetail bucks this year I think I won't shoot one even if I see one, unless it is the buck of a lifetime. We have to let the population recover before worrying about filling tags.
