What's everybody using for hearing protection?

Is there anything out there that is easy to pack, acceessible, deploys quickly and effective? Or is that too much to ask for?

Just wondering what the rest of you guys are doing?
 
I have some Walker Alphas that work great at the range. They'd drive me crazy when hunting but I don't shoot a lot when hunting so I'm not too worried about it.

Should make an effort to put in ear plugs if you can which is quick to do before the shot. Or suffer the consequences like tinnitus (hear ringing) for 1/2 a day or so, and/or possible permanent hearing impairment.

At the range I use plugs but when hunting I use Walker Alpha 360. They are electronic muffs that amplify regular sounds but supress loud sounds. They are awesome when turkey hunting as you can hear birds from long distance. They take a bit of getting used to, but I dont waterfowl or turkey hunt without them anymore
 
for years did not use anything, now e muffs ride in my truck everywhere i go, with spare batteries, i will forget them once a while but that one shot it two make no difference in the level of ringing i suffer on daily bases, damage is done, it only gets worst if i shoot more then couple of times
 
Howard Leight Impacts work well for me for deer hunting and wing shooting. When sighting in and load work ups I will double up with a pair of plugs as well.
I also have the surefire active ear plugs that work for smaller calibre firearms but wouldn't use them against hunting rifles.
 
I use Peltor TacticalPros.
I have significant bilateral hearing loss, wear hearing aids.
I shoot a lot, and my hearing tests over the last several years show no further loss of hearing.
 
Don't use anything while hunting cuz I'm a bow hunter but I do put earplugs in at night due to the snoring in the camp...
 
I wear the reusable ear plugs that are on a cord. Slip them around my neck, always there. Takes seconds to pop in. I have lost a fair bit of hearing already. I really should double up at the range, but don't have muffs that fit decently.
 
Bit the bullet and bought Wildears custom ones last year. Custom fit so they're stable as hell and they both amplify and dampen. Amazing purchase
 
right now i use custom fit plugs but am saving for custom molded electronics. the electronics are nice as they can be put in at the beginning of the hunt and be left in while still being able to hear ambient sounds and whispers from your hunting buddy. i have a friend that can do ESP plugs so thats likely what i will go with.
 
I use foam ear plugs under my Browning electronic ear muffs at the range. Esp. when somebody next to you is shooting a shotgun, or large calibre rifle or handgun, the extra protection is welcome. During indoor IDPA shoots I do the same, but with lighter Impact muffs so I can hear the explanations better. I often turn off the electronic amplification when it's not my turn to shoot.

For outdoors I have shot steel challenge with the Impact muffs (my one and only time so far). By the end of the day I was wishing I'd either added the foam plugs or used the Browning's.
