So what would you choose.

Of those choices.... I'd go for CZ75/85 series, CZ SP-01 before the others. The Ruger would be my last choice.

My current preference for a 9mm double stack is the Browning HP MkIII with the ambi-controls. For a single stack 9mm I've got a Colt Combat Commander but I'm sure I'd be happy with a Norc NP-29 [cheap like borsche :D ] or a Star Model B [might be hard to come by these days]

Well the 89 felt a little large in her hands. Any idea how the others compair grip wise? only a tidge but smaller would probably be more comfortable. We're not able to take time off and head over to vancouver to actually feel/see the guns unfortunately.

Winning this contest is great and will put a handgun in the house long before I figured would be possible for us but doing it right before christmas is just adding one more thing to the list... All though I now know for certain that she's getting a box of 9mm or 2 in her stocking.

The XD in 9MM is a little deciving in that it feels allot smaller than it looks.

Forget the SIG. If she thinks the Ruger is big, the SIG will probably be uncomfortable too.

I would choose the CZ75 sp01 , but thats me .
Spend a day and take her to the store and let her make the decision , after all it is hers , right ?
And this way you won't be blamed if it doesn't work out .
Nothing actually " wrong " with a Ruger if she likes it .

I got a call from John at reliable (apparently my wife left him with my cell number as the contact) She's ordered a cz sp-01 tactical and some ammo. This exceeds the contest amount of $800 when taxes and shipping are included so I agreed to pay the extra.

It should be home for her before the end of next week.

Thanks for all the help picking guys. I'm pretty sure nine's pictures made her decision I just argued for night sites.

So I was peeling potatoes while my wife talked with John at reliable guns where this will come from. I wondered what had gone wrong in the world and where I had left my skirt while she got the list of what meets the criteria.

How about a Hi-Power? Bought a brand new one for $699 and it's now one of my favorite guns.

I have a p89, had it for about 13 years, this gun is a workhorse, never jammed on me, always reliable, always worked properly and very accurate. I shoots every type of bullet without any problem. My honest opinion though when it comes to handguns your wife must see what feels best in her hand from that list. Nobody can decide for her, they can only advise her if her selection is a good firearm or not.

very true!

I have one. It is a bit heavy, but that helps reduce the recoil. Makes it shooter friendly, especially for the women.

Mine has been flawless, and smoothed out quite nicely with a 1,000+ rounds through it. Shoots awesome.

Oh I see that's what she ordered. Let us know how she likes it.
I have small girlie hands but the CZ fits me well. That is one of the many reasons I chose it.

amazingly I just got a call from john, the paperwork was done real quick. placed order yesterday and he is shipping today. It will arrive tommorrow. Now to get the paperwork started on the long term ATT's I guess.

My first handgun was a Ruger P89. I paid $450 for it in 1991 and I was very happy with it at the time. It was very reliable but somewhat lacking in the accuracy department. If I was to do it all over again I would have bought a cz-75 instead of the Ruger p89 because it fits my hand better, it's slimmer with the same magazine capacity, it can be carried "cocked and locked", more accurate and because it was actually cheaper than Ruger P89. After college I moved up to Glocks, Sigs and H&K pistols which are just as reliable but a bit more accurate and much lighter.
