Hi Guys,

Around 2 years ago I loaded up a bunch of ought six bullets, which I had done the moly treatment to using my lyman tumbler and ceramic media. shot some of them and then the rest got put in boxes which then got put into ammo cans, which were in a controlled low light no moisture enviroment. I crack open the can the other day and low and behold the bullets lood like they have been color case hardened, like the old rust bluing theres rainbows the whole nine yards. Question, is this a form of reaction that moly bullets have or have I screwed up somewere along the line. Theres no moisture anywere and the can is full of desicant bags what gives?

Mucho garcia:)

I have been using moly for a long time, but have never been able to keep loaded ammo for more then a few weeks, sometimes not even 24 hours:D
I would have no problem shooting them.

I've never seen that, although I mostly use Tungsten Disulfide (WS2) instead of Molybdenum Disulfide these days.

I have noticed, though, that moly-coated bullets stay shiny for a lot longer than WS2. WS2 tends to dull after a few days, while moly stays a nice shiny silvery-gray colour for as long as I've ever kept them around (6 mo maybe)

No issue with my ammo and some stored for a year or more. Might be a reaction with the acids off your fingers. Wouldn't worry about shooting them though.

Are there any 'corroded' finger print marks on the case?

Just a thought.
