Whats going on ?

Was 299$ a few years ago and now its like 430-530$ everywhere.

Same gun.

Am I missing something ?

At $299 it was under-priced, IMO. I'm even getting used to the appearance of the Canadian versioned nubbified barrel models.

What’s going on? Nothing, it’s still got a garbage trigger.

The trigger problem can be fixed easily with the Apex trigger.

My problem is with the ammo. The 124gr Blazer, American Eagle or Sellier-Bellot shoot perfectly, but the cheap 115gr (like Remington) produces a lot of stove pipes.

As far as price is concerned, I paid $330 exactly two years ago. The same store (Dante) now has a list price of $450, on sale at $400. That price hike is not exclusive to the SD9VE: they now advertize the M&P9 at $100 over last year's price.

Fixed it for you. lol!

Try working on improving your grip. More about physics and applying the strength you have, properly, than hitting the grip strengtheners. The more stable the grip, the less stove pipes you should have. I went through a similar situation with a shooter and he had stove pipes every couple shots. I fixed his grip and the problem went away. :)

If I recall the $299 was the US MSRP. In Canada I believe they hit the market at or near $349-$369 for a short while. They originally came out to respond to the Ruger SR which was driven by an appealing price point at that time. Slowly it has crept up in price to now over $400 which is not unexpected. What irks me is they now have the SD9VE Range kit, which is nothing more than the standard SD9 with an Uplula thrown in..Big deal. As I have posted earlier yes the trigger is hard for the average guy BUT it was not intended to be a super trigger mirror finished with unicorn tears and blessed by Leprechauns. It was designed as a Self Defense gun(SD in the name) WITH a heavy trigger so as not to experience NDs in the hands of less experienced. The trigger is no problem at all for those of us raised on DA revolvers. I bought one of the first just to see how close it really was to a Glock and u can see how the Sigma(preceeded the SD9)was the one Glock sued over. A few minor mods and the SD9 was (re)born. It has been a tack driver from the beginning but I did in fact add FO sights which for me made a world of difference. I only use it now as a Guest Gun or for a Training gun. Would I buy another one? Nope, other choices are more appealing given where the price point has risen to...

It's like that old saying: "Invenietis illos emere."

Not long ago brand-new M&P9M2 pistols were everywhere for $600., too. Not anymore. Now, when you can find them, the price is closer to $800.

They are doing you a favor by hiking up the price, that way you can look up other guns and buy a better one instead ;)

Joke aside - spend your money on a better one.
