In my home town there is a K98 Scope and mount and just wondering what they are roughly worth. Looked similar to this:

The asking price was about $450 for the mount and scope.

They also have an stock K98 as well as Israeli 7.62 conversion there for $600 and $400.

It looks to be a repro scope and mount from overseas in the third world. There were 3 grades of quality when then came out and were offered in 3 price ranges - starting at $199.00 US for scope and mount.
Some were junk, don't hold zero, bent cross hairs, etc. And some were ok.

that picture isn't the actual scope and mount. And this one IS real :D

Heck you know where there is a real LSR mount, let me know. I could use one for my real LSR bcd4 rifle which is missing an original mount/scope.

I would even be able to trade a original bek or dow scope and 2x repro mounts in the deal.

I have seen two original scope/mount sets pop up in the last four years and both were out of Europe. One was on the K98K forum - sad story - someone was showing off there bring back bcd LSR sniper (minus scope) and someone out of Europe showed a picture of the matching scope/mount which was left in Europe.

The other one was a guy that had an original SS LSR mount/scope but wouldn't sell it to me, but he sure wanted to buy my rifle. A gent out of the Czech Republic. We couldn't work out a deal in the end.

We need pics of the actual scope/mount for sale. Most LSR rifles actually had bek or dow scopes on them and not Zeiss. Many repro scopes have only the Jena on the Zeiss/Jena logo, but a few out of Europe had the Zeiss/Jena and also had a waffen amt 359 milled mount.

Nice uniform blueing too. You can tell that ebay pic is a repo.
Do they make reproductions that are hard to tell apart from the real thing? Or are they al cheesey, flimbsy, coppy of an imitation?

The best repro's came out of the Ukraine and used to be sold on Ebay. I haven't seen one for sale from that dealer for 4x years.
The big problem is most LSR mounts have the solid scope rings, while most true LSR rifles had the bands as rings. I have yet to see a good copy of a nice repro mount with bands.
