I just picked up a Lee Enfield Mk 4, apparntly it was built with items taken by an employee at long branch. it has a certificate but no factory serial number.
It came with a bayonet, re-finished stock and a jungle carbine flash hider.
There is a brass but plate and chrome bolt.

Yes, It is a franken-gun, no serial number, no armoury marks of anykind. It was sold by the son of a guy who's father took it home piece by piece. I paid $400.00 for it. Would it be worth less?

Not to you. It's worth whatever someone else is willing to give you for it, or whatever you are offered that you decide to turn down so you can keep it.

It's not necessarily collectable, since there is no way to classify it as an example of any particular type or specification nor to prove its provenance. But if someone likes the story you tell they may decide they want to collect it.

"...who's father took it home piece by piece..." Who stole it piece by piece. Relax. Nobody is looking for it. 'Lunch box specials' have no collector value. Check the headspace. You can bet it wasn't in the factory. Mind you, the guy might have stole the headspace guages too.
The flash hider and chromed bolt make it worth the same as any other bubba'd rifle. Not worth $400.
