What's It Worth? Winchester Nickel Barrel 30-30

I'm considering selling a Winchester Nickel Model 94 in 30-30. It has some pitting and a some stock damage. There's six notches carved in the stock just below the lever which I like to imagine symbolize....

It's fully functioning. According to the online tools the gun was manufactured in 1922 going by the serial number.

It looks better than most of the 90 year olds I know. I'm wondering what it's worth and any other interesting tidbits. Thanks for your time.

Looks like a standard 1894 Sporting Rifle. Finish is pretty much gone and like you said the wood is bad around the tang. Value is not high, pretty much a hunter/shooter grade 94. In my area $400-$450 if the bore is good. Unless they possess some special order features like pistol grips, shotgun butts, fancy walnut, checkering, odd barrel or magazine length etc. these grey guns don't generate a lot of interest. Nice old gun to hunt with though, a lot of history there.

Looks like a shooter if the bore is good. No collector value left. Someone had the butt off it and damaged the lower tang a bit by dropping it or ???. As a shooter only if the boor is good would be around $400 I would think. That stock by the receiver is pretty bad. Good chunk missing out of it.

I agree with Mike. $400.00 tops and only if with a good (or better) bore. Old does not always translate into bigger $$.

I was looking at a $400.00 Winchester 1894 at a gun store, the front sight was bent and the over-all condition was about the same. It may have been even older as it was marked 30 WCF which thanks to CGNers I have learned is the same as 30-30.
I have been looking on the EE and have found newer 94's in a lot better condition for $500-800. I still want one but I am not able to move on it at the moment due to other concerns.

This one being 1922 would be also 30WCF. In 1956 or 1959 they changed from 30WCF to 30-30 win. Like you said, just the same as 30-30.

In the condition it is in, I feel that $400 is a little high. $300 might be more realistic.

I went back to the gun store and had another look at the 94 and noticed that the front sight is not only bent but looks like it is held in place with a pin or maybe a rivet. If it breaks when being straightened there may be a way to replace it.The date of manufacture is 1910.
The stock doesn't have any pieces missing but lots of hard knocks. No notches (my quess is coyotes) the bore is dark but lots of strong rifling it might clean up nicely.

For $300 you could part it out and make a profit. Personally I think these old rifles deserve to go hunting. That's what they were made for.

Thanks guys! I was hoping it would be more collectable but I wasn't expecting too much given the condition. I will think about listing it soon. As far as hunting with it goes, I'm too attached to my 300 win mag to leave it at home. CGN is great! Thanks for the help.
