My son has a Win. model 94 38- 55 with octagon barrel made in 1895. SN 41###.
The blueing is gone but the wood is in very good shape,no cracks or splits.

Anyone have a Blue Book value for it??

This gun is NOT for sale.

Thanks

Value

Value is based very much on condition. Pics would be necessary to accurately determine that condition. Any refinish of wood/metal, extra sling swivels and studs etc. drilled into it would once again reduce value as would bore condition. One person's good is another person's fair or another person's excellent. You almost have to have one in your hand to determine value. I'm sure a Winchester collector would be best to give you that value. So, $200 to $2000 would be a reasonable range.

The Blue Book puts the value between $750 and $4500 for M-94's made between 1894 and 1898. The 80% condition value is $2650. The serial number must be below 148,000.

Add 20% for takedown model
Add 75% for deluxe models if original and depending on condition
Add 25% for calibers other than .30/30 and .32 Special.

Now is the Blue Book in US prices or Canadian prices. Very few people in Canada have any desire to pay US prices, which in some cases are just out to lunch!

That's true, the Blue Book is intended for a US audience, but I believe it still a useful form of comparison, particularly for guns that are out of production. Knowing what the Canadian value for a given model is, based on that we can then work out what the price might be of a piece less commonly known.

I can recall stopping in a Montana gunshop in the early 1990's and checking out a rack of about 40 old Model 94's.
There wasnt one in the lot that was special in any way. Most were just well used old pre-64's in the standard carbine version.

Asking price was five hundred U.S and upwards on every one of them.
Some were no better than parts guns at best.
