I bought one for my son (Grey laminate, blued steel) when he was 4, now at 5 he has become very efficient with it. I just ordered a pink one for my 4 year old daughter, it will be a while before she shoots it though.
The Cricket is a great shooting gun as well as being very safe for a supervised child.
It is made by Keystone firearms, great people to deal with. They also make lots of other kid friendly stuff, safety equipment, clothes, on-line shooting clubs..
One thing to keep in mind is that if you decide to scope it stay away from the Cricket scope, also, because of the way the scope mounts it has to sit very high over the bore. The factory peep sight is hard to beat.
Here is my 5 year old with his 15 shot, 25 yard group.:) He is a daily shooter and a member of a range.
