Whats next for the T81 in 2024

If they could go ahead and make a run with a shrouded heat sink barrel chambered in 303 Brit that takes dinner plate mags and comes with an integral bipod. That way I could have whatever random prohib gun I want but built on a semi auto non restricted receiver and pretend that I live somewhere else and actually have the real thing. That would be great

What about a belt fed!

To be honest I always thought a type 81 chambered in 500 nitro express and single shot would be a rifle that I would really want to buy if it had gold inletting, English walnut stock and “Holland & Holland norinco made in China” engraved on the receiver

Now that would be interesting... I kind of want to see just how fancy someone could make a type 81

Well this thread is going well I see.
My prediction for 2023 is we get another batch of the SE's in and then Norinco fully decomissions their T81 production and we don't get any more.

No. You're thinking of the Romanian PSL which are literally just scaled up version of a AKM to take 7.62x54R similar to the Zastava M76 & the newer M91. The NDM-86 is just a the export version of the Chinese Type 79/85 which are nearly 1-to-1 copies of early versions of the SVD except slightly different dimensions. Poland & Iraq also make proper SVD clones.

The SVD is prohibited as they classified it as an AK variant when none of the parts are interchangeable & the SVD has a short stroke piston. The only similarities they have are its dust cover, iron sights & the lever safety selector & the rest of similarities are purely cosmetic. It's a real shame too because China probably has stockpiles of them as they supposedly replaced their Type 79/85 with the CS/LR19 & NSG-85 just like how Russia announced that they're finally replacing them with the SVCh (which is one of the coolest rifles I've seen).

ok but my point still stands that a type81 in 7.62x54r fills a void because we cant have whatever has been made already, that is on the prohib list. it's just a wishlist whether or not it'll ever happen is a whole different matter. Just because that gun is banned, doesn't mean they can't make a type81 in that caliber. 54r makes more sense than 7.62x39 in a DMR, imo

Interested in a belt fed Type 81 in 45 Long Colt with a 24 inch match grade bull barrel finished in Pride flag Cerakote.

Can we make this happen?

I want one of those SVCh! 7.62x54R, 7.62x51 or .338 Lapua, I'd get at least one of them, haha.

Would honestly love dp28

China retired both the t81 and qbz95/t97. If you’re going to get one get a standard one for collector reasons. Their new service rifle (qbz 191) honestly is a lot like a wk181c g2.

Like I said what I really want is a type 81 chambered in 303 top feed so I can do a conversion to some random gun that wouldn’t quite work with the non restricted receiver. I also want a nice 338 lapua semi auto so maybe I’ll throw in a request for a t81 chambered in that too.

In reality if they ever did a limited run gold plated with a gold plated mag and really nice walnut like a saddam gifted gold akm, that I would trade my truck for

Prototypes of this was shown at the Zhuhai airship a few years ago.

What prototype

That’s a t81 with newer furniture
Just shop at sigmaco and buy that yourself

Its a little long, but Redditor SatchelMacavellie has given us a Type 81 SR in the style of the pictured prototype, using a customized to fit Tactical Imports Low-Profile M-LOK Handguard and Sigmaco Canada AR pistol grip and buffer tube adapter:

I would also like see if Norinco could make their own version of a IWI Tavor 7 so you can get a .308 bullpup without spending a lot without needing to spend at least $2.6K on a Kel-Tec RFB that require metric FAL magazines or $3K+ for a Tavor 7.

That's the dream really & the reason why I bought an SVT-40 instead of the Type 81 SR (on top of the SVT-40 being my dream milsurp). What they would have to do is upscale it & change the short stroke piston to a long stroke gas piston so it can handle the round & hope they don't have issues like the Romanians did with the PSL when it comes to using heavier rounds. A few folks & I were talking about it on Twitter/X & we were wondering if it would be plausible for the SVD to get re-certified by the RCMP because of the differences between it & actual AK variants so we could get the Chinese clones like the NDM-86 or old Type 79/85 surplus or even old SVD surplus from other countries like Czech Republic & India (since no trade with Russia).

When I heard I about them & finally saw them I got so giddy & their Bushmaster ACR clone prototype called the SVK.

A 'z' would be a good choice...
I wouldn't say no to a QBU-191...either.
Designated marksman rifle

The QBU-191 is a new Chinese designated marksman rifle. It is a high-precision version of the QBZ-191 assault rifle, fitted with a longer barrel and some other modifications. Recently the QBU-191 was adopted by the Chinese army. It will replace in service the current QBU-88 designated marksman rifle with bullpup layout.

The QBU-191 is based on the basic design of the QBZ-191 assault rifle. Many components are interchangeable. This reduced production costs, simplified logistics, servicing, maintenance, and improved functionality. Though it is unclear if it the weapon can be reconfigured from one configuration to another. The QBU-191 has a more ergonomic design than the older QBU-88 with bullpup layout.

I could see the chinese military using the type81 against the civilian populations of Taiwan and Canada in 2024. But probably nothing new to release for the retail market.
