What's on your "Do not sell until I'm dead" list?

Kind of like hoytcanon said there is some I am disinterested in selling but there is two that I will not as they were my dads and I have committed one to each daughter when I croak or shortly before, one a Remington model 12 pump 22 and the other a Ithaca X5 Lightning 22, I remember shooting these with my dad when I was very young and have shot them with my girls.

For a long time I was a "never sell", mostly as a way to temper my buying impulse and be sure I wouldn't buy junk that I didn't plan to keep. That was when I was young, cash was tight and I was just getting started with hunting and shooting. Some of the guns I bought in those days are definite "never sells" for me - my .35 Rem 336 and my wifes .32 special 1894. We bought those rifles while living in NS to deer hunt with, we were broke and basically needed the meat, and I knew if we really needed to I could make a few bucks reselling them in Ontario. My BSS 20 ga Sporter (good taste, Hoyt) has so many memories tied to my first bird dog, I'd never sell it. My sweet sixteen is heading in that direction too, but the rest I'd sell if I needed to. A bunch of guns in my safe I inherited or was given, and while they are models I'd likely not have bought myself, I wouldn't feel right selling them.

My father wasn't a hunter, but he was a sport shooter - belonged to the Dofasco Revolver Club. He passed away when I was six years old, and of course my mom got rid of his firearms, with kids in the house and all. I wish there would have been an opportunity for me to have them, though, as so many memories of him involve shooting an old air gun and .22. I don't have kids yet, but if I do I sure hope they appreciate having the guns I've enjoyed all these years.

My fathers guns are off limits, even though I don't shoot them often.

Other than that, I would say that my M70 300WSM that Leeper built and my .375 Ruger are the ones that won't be going anywhere. Just added a CZ Shadow 2 to the line up and I don't see that on the chopping block either.

My S&W as it was the first brand new handgun I ever purchased.
My 1916 Enfield; was a gift from a very good friend.
Maybe the mosin I did up, only because it was the first rifle I ever had modified.

Never is a very strong term, but if I were to look at my collection as it sits I would say any of my Ruger M77 variants that are wood stocked and my Browning Maxus Hunter would be the last ones to go out of the bunch.... Actually, speaking of "never", Hoytcanon is responsible for about half of my list....

-Ruger 77/22 rsi
-Ruger M77 UL .257 Roberts
-Ruger GSR .308
-Ruger M77 .350 Rem Mag
-Ruger rsm .375 H&H
-Browning Maxus Hunter

There are ~ 15 or so others that would go long before these did, and if these were all I had left I could easily hunt anything I wanted in North America with the above lineup....

If that .350RM was acquired very recently then my wallet thanks you! I had been staring at the ad for four or five days praying it would disappear before I caved, was probably only a day away!

As to the original question, I won't get rid of my first rifle, my first shotgun, or my first muzzleloader, ever.

Your wallet is welcome.... I picked it up at the post office last Friday.....

Norinco 1911 Commander .45acp
I am not THAT sentimental about my guns, as nobody in my family owned any guns, and my first experience with pulling a trigger was in boot camp. My daughter , 10, enjoys shooting with me, so of course she can have any and all of my guns. But after she does her pick/picks, I will definately leave a few to people that have done nice things for me over the years. I just won't tell them until the will reading.

100% will never sell my featherweight in 308 bought it new in 2015 and am loving it, another is my marlin 336 shot my first deer with that and theres to much sentimental hunting memories attached to it. Last is my Nana's Remington 12A 22. one of the few family heirlooms I have.

All the guns in my safe right now.

I did a huge clean up, the ones that made it thru are keepers that wont be sold and are going to my kids.

I'll sell them if they break or wear down. I'll sell them if I can find something better or to finance something I want more or need. I'll sell them if I can't use them any more for whatever reason. But, at this point, I'd prefer not to sell my deluxe Winchester octagonal takedown 1892 in 45 Colt and my old consecutive stainless Ruger Bisley Vaqueros in 45 Colt.

T/C Contender
S&W Mod. 29-2 (As new)
Dan Wesson Hunter Pac
Taurus .44 Raging Bull (had to get Epps to order it after locating one at Freedom Ventures)
Russian M38 (replaces the M44 that I regret selling)
Marlin 1895 Classic (took me forever to get one)

There's one I'll keep to the end, an ordinary 12-gauge Ithaca 37 that belonged to my dad. Aside from that, when I get too old to hunt, all the hunting guns will go. And when I get too old to shoot at all, all the rest will follow.

Ideally, I'll just kick the bucket on a hunting trip somewhere and not need to worry about it! :)

Firearms are just stuff, it's all for sale if I need the money, nothing there that can not be replaced. Got rid of the old junk from my grand father, uncle and dad years ago, and I do not believe in the sentimental part of the collection, just things and stuff.

Had a cousin like that... when the registry came into effect he turned in some WW1/WW2 and other "old" hunting rifles and shotguns... because he didn't feel doing the paperwork...

My Marlin 1894c .357 magnum its not going anywhere!

This rifle belonged to a friend of mine who got me into cowboy action shooting. Its the first lever action i ever fired. Last summer I went to a show at our gun club and saw him sitting at a table with it. I asked if he had much interest and he said a guy might get back to him. So i asked him as a favor if he could put it away and sell it to me but i had to move a couple things first. He was in no rush for the money and would rather see me with it anyways so 2 weeks later i gave him what he wanted and now have something im really proud to own. Plus he stoned the lever and smoothed things out.
I do CAS regularly now and let me tell you its one quick shooting rifle.
