whats so special about 7?

i suspect it grew out of an attempt to capture some of the reverence for the winchester model 70 the "rifleman's rifle". which came along after winchester stopped naming by year. 1936 saw both the winchester model 70 and 71. and the 54 and 55 where from 1924 IIRC and in between there where at least models 60-69.

did they have that address in 1962? i thought remington was from ilion, new york.
