Whats so special about the Swiss Arms Carbines?

Never tried the Carbine but the 20'' Black Special was a blast to shoot, had to get use to the extra weight in the front, by far the best made assault rifle on the market, for a non-restricted (If you went with the 20''). Heard they can handle -55C cold too.

:agree:
I want one day soon to not only own a black special but to totaly pimp it out. Just that 649 number's never match the one's I pick.

Well. I just happen to have a Black Special for sale. :p

The only reason I'm getting rid of it is I just have not used it as much as I wanted to.
In the last (almost) 2 years, I've had it out once and put 50rds through it.

I use my AR's a lot more, along with my pistols, so just can't see letting it sit when someone else will probably get a lot of good use out of it.

I was looking at the PE-90 target model back a few years. I wasn't sold on it. Then I'm in the local gun store and the sly bugger tells me he has a rifle I have to see. It turns out to be the exact rifle I was thinking about.

The Swiss Arms rifles are well built. This is immediately obvious the moment you pick one up. The quality reminds me of a Swiss Watch. Its the Rolex I don't wear :D. It's also a very well thought out rifle. See the features below.

The pluses: folding stock (The only one I actually like), built in bipod, and a trigger guard that folds out of the way for gloves. Add in that it's non-restricted and varmint hunting accurate.

Plus it retains it's original features such as the step down barrel, bayonet lug and flash hider.

One other advantage. It's designed for the same climates as Canada.

Double the price of a Swiss Arms. HK G36 is definitely not for the value-oriented buyer. The Swiss Arms feels like it is worth the money. The HK G36 does not.

Ya, its hard to pull the plug on 6-8 grand for G36 . The Swiss arms carbine is my fav and a really good deal at 3K :)

Can someone please tell me what makes the Swiss Arms Carbine so expensive? they don't look that well built, the metal looks like cheap tin. Compared to an AR they look like crap IMO.

LOL! The metal is hardly "cheap tin". I'd take a Swiss Arms Carbine over an AR type carbine any day. Like others that have posted, I've never had one FTE or FTF, never finicky with any ammo.......its been 100%. Forget about reloading though, every shell case gets that "trademark crimp". I was so impressed with the Black Special, I bought the CQB and Carbine as well. Now, if only we could get a 10 round mag.........thats the one advantage of the AR platform. The mags for Swiss Arms rifles are plastic and therefore not as durable as the AR mags.....although they do clip together, which is pretty cool. I don't think the price is too unreasonable for what you get.

I own a bunch of different ARs and Swiss Arms rifles. Love both, but the Swiss Arms is my goto rifle. Never had a single issue with them. ARs usually require a little tweaking.

As for mags, until the P-Mag came along, the definite weak link in the AR system was their magazines. They were always overly "delicate" and prone to inadvertent damage....a bent, dented or cracked feed lip and you had an out of commission rifle until you cleared the jam. The Swiss Arms mags are a super-tough polymer that stands up to even the coldest Canadian winter day without becoming brittle. I've dropped them on boulders, gravel and concrete while coyote hunting in the middle of January and zero problems. They always feed and having the ability to quickly clip several together is a big plus when each mag is limited to 5 rounds. I like the new Magpul P-Mags for the AR system, but I still believe the Swiss Arms mags are better.

Where I live there is no shooting range of any sort. Thus an AR would be useless to me. The non-restricted classification was the real seller for me when I went shopping and ultimately ended up with the Swiss. A restricted long-gun has no value in my safe.
