Hey Guys,

I've been approached to sell some of my soft lead stash. It's nice clean stuff. What's a fair asking price?

Thanks,

gnmontey

Trading today at USD$1.04 /lb, for reference. That's for newly smelted material, bought by the truckload. That puts it right about where it was before the pandemic got going.

How about wheel weight ingots?

I'm moving into a seniors building and have 5-6 hundred pounds of lead and ww to dispose of.

I would agree with yomomma - worth what you can get for it. You apparently can not provide lab certificates of analysis for what contaminants it has - for many buyers that will not matter. I bought about 800 pounds plus of wheel weight ingots - months later, sorting through and weighing - obvious change in surface colour - buddy clearly got into a bunch that contained zinc and just kept on making ingots. So some unknown amount of this stuff is contaminated - and does not appear to matter in the 200 grain .314" bullets that I have cast - so I am okay with it - another person might be quite bent out of shape about that. What you have, what you know, what buyer knows, how bad that he wants it, etc. BTW - I am now 65 - if any was to be sold - damn sure will be a condition of sale that buyer is going to come here and get it, and tote it up the stairs and out the door, because I am not doing that chit no more!!!
