There was one at Wholesale in Calgary a few weeks ago, might be worth a try if that is what you are looking for.

Just got my brand new Win 94 Legacy in the mail today. Lucked out big time. Gunshop thought they had sold it, did inventory....found one on the shelves and were nice enough to call me to see if I wanted it. :D :p :D

They are getting scarce very fast. I see in the bargain Finder that prices are already climbing. Good luck searching, it took me two months to land one.

Arch:)

My .44 is a Marlin :) but,

Whats the .44 mag Ruger lever gun like??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

..........was wondering if any of my fellow nutz have owned or had experience with this gun??

No experience win94 but I've often thought these would be interesting and a great truck gun. Easy to load/unload and if not classic, thery're Ruger-dependable and you get yet another slice of lumber from that Ruger tree with no grain. :D Seriously, I'd like to play with one of these, they're supposed to be great shooters.....

A friend of mine had one and brought it for a range session once. I found it to be very light with clean lines, the lever throw was very short too and easy. One thing I did notice was that it kicked like hell with hotloads. He didn't tell me they were hot, just handed them to me, when I examined the cases later some were split. I must say that I prefer the look of the winchester model 94 but the ruger performed well.

My ruger 44 seems fine if you remember it's a utility gun. It's not a refined european piece. It is a tool for knocking down targets or deer for that matter. The short throw is great, and I consider it a good gun. Not all guns are equal, just remember that every one is designed to fit a specific niche.

I have been looking for a short .44 lever for a couple months. I have checked most gun stores in Canada, but no Trappers to be found anymore. At Wholesale I looked at the Ruger, I liked the action, was impressed by the short throw, but the wood was terrible. I could carve a 2x4 into a better stock. If only I had not sold that Semi Auto Liberty Ruger...

They are a cute little gun.Shoot well, but the wood could be nicer.
Thing about the ruger they are nice for someone with small hands(woman or kid).No hammer to fumble with.No tube mag.
Its a great lever gun for a beginner.
