What's the best 1911 for under $1000.00

I'm not knocking the Norcs, everyone that has them seems to really like them, it's just that I don't want to start modifying a gun and would sooner buy one as is and not do a bunch of work.

Frankly I'm surprised this thread is only on the third page! You can pick up a Kimber target II from just around the $1000 mark and never look back. My two cents...

Kimber, in my opinion. Any model with their match trigger will impress you, the break is the sweetest feeling in the world. If you really want to light your fire order a "no gunsmithing required" magwell straight from Kimber (through your dealer) for just over $100 and knotched grips for the magwell for $75 and as far as single stack 1911's go you'll be shooting pretty good. But straight out of the box a stock one will leave you wide eyed too...

In this issue's Guns&Ammo, a guy was complaining to editor that today's 1911s' prices are just ridiculous and almost each gun manufacturer has its 1911 line. But, according to this guy, a lot of people just need something really affordable, simple and as classic as possible. So he continued on with the question "where can I find a serious Colt clone?" :p

Of course he didn't get his answer from the editor, cuz everyone knows the answer.
