Need something for my wife to do her BB and have something to call her own.

She is not a 'nutz', so I'm looking for the best cheap/decent balance I can find. I've read to stay away from the alloy ones.

What is the good one(s)?

Should you not be thinking to yourself what is the next gun you want:D
Just in case she does not like it :dancingbanana:
Oh thats ok dear I understand, I'll just put this one back in the safe in case you change your mind!

If you want your wife to enjoy shooting then take her out to the gun store or range and let her handle diferent types to see what feels good to her . Dont think about going cheap go with what she likes

isn`t marstar going to have new models or a new line of handguns soon? he replied to a post last week about it.

Oh geezzzz.. brother! you want to buy your wife a cheap gun?? Honestly if my wife want to shoot, I will buy her the best that she want. I think you should buy her a hot looking and reliable gun is way more important. M&P or STI ranger II in 9mm should be a very good choice if she has a smaller hand.

I have both the NP29 and NZ85. Both are good guns for my needs, but the grip on the NZ85 is too wide for my wifes small hands. The NP29 being a single stack, fits her much better.

I bought an NZ85. Great gun but I hated the grips so I replaced them with Hogue wraparounds. Now the gun looks and feels completely different, much thinner. :dancingbanana:

Marstar has nice Bersa Thunders CHEAP. If my wife wanted a piece, I'd get her one.

At $450, including one mag, plus tax and shipping, it isn't what I'd call cheap.

For an inexpensive pistol from Marstar, I'd go with the NP22. The examples I've handled and fired of the NP22 have been surprisingly good.

Too bad Marstar took down the Grandpower pages. I think they aren't selling them anymore. A friend has one that I get to shoot a lot. We both like the thing even if it's a typical top-heavy plastic gun.

I agree you should listen to the fellow Nutz and get something SHE is comfortable with. Some girlz, even with small hands, prefer bigger guns and some prefer smaller guns.

A friend's GF loves my 1911 even if she has small hands. She shot really good with it for a first timer, too. She also liked the small XD9 but not the feel of the larger XD45 although she shot the XD45 better than the XD9.

A handgun is a personal thing. Some buy it for the name or the gun or the look and regret it and end up selling it. We've all done it at one point or another. Fit, feel and how it feels to shoot is the most important thing in a handgun. Lots of owners and fellow club members would let you test fire a few rounds from theirs.

Find one she's comfortable with. One that you feel good with if she gives it up. Then when you know what model, hit the retailer links at the top to find the best price.

Exactly what I'm thinking! If she wants to get involve in the sport, make sure she has a gun that SHE likes and that feels good in HER hands... and YOU better make sure it is a good reliable gun.

Some guy might enjoy thinkering with a pistol to make it work... I doubt she would.

Thanks guys. A NP22 or Nork 1911 in 9mm was what I was thinking of. Single stack is a must.

She has held and fired all of mine, and tried a few others, so I have a sense of what she prefers.

I think the M&P is a good choice (she has shot my .40), but I want her to do her BB and learn the basics with a hammer fired, external safety (and no mag safety) pistol. I think that is a better foundation, and a little simpler to understand the basics.

My SP01 is plenty heavy, and she has a hard time racking the slide (the recoil springs in those are dogs).

She'll likely need an extended mag release anyway.
