Gotta throw this out there, I agree BC likely has the best hunting, especially with species variety. But what is the tag stsyem like, how easy are they to get and how long are the seasons?

I admit, I don't know the answers to these questions.

Some of these short seasons in eastern Canada would sure be a nuisance to have to deal with. A lot of people in AB hunt from Sept to Dec (even Jan). There is no comparing that to eastern Canada. I think this is a factor too.

Ontario could be dead last for so many reasons...

but I selected it as my top choice. Why?

Turkey!

Ontario is far from dead last. Just like everyone else from Ontario, you are forgetting about Northwestern Ontario. Some of the best whitetails in Canada, some of the best moose hunting in Canada, and great black bear hunting. Oh yeah! We can't forget about the awesome grouse hunting either. It may not be the best, but it is far from last.

Not quite. Moose hunting in Newfoundland runs from early September to early January, or from early October to late January, depending on the area.

Not to forget alot of our western provinces have "other species" that fill the rest of the off season hunting/shooting calendar.
IMO the gala of hunting starts in the Whiteshell District of the Ontario/Manitoba border on the good side & continues north and west of there.

my two bits :)

No doubt they do, and sometimes I'm envious of that, but then again, I wouldn't want to have to give up hunting on the ocean for seals, sea ducks or turres either. Just about every part of Canada has something different to offer.

Yes you are right on this point.............each different region does have it's own set of unique opportunities.
I can't disargee with this unmistakeable fact.

Cheers!

Hunting chupacabra in British Columbia is like no other says NoBark. You have to watch out though, some of them have two heads with fangs that go down to the ground. Some even carry automatic weapons. Well... as far as I could tell since they're all invisible.

BC is horrible for hunting and fishing stay away. No Bigfoot either just a myth.

As was said previously - every place has it's good (and bad) points. I vote BC, having moved here 20 years ago. The big game opportunities are unmatched, and the bird hunting is good too - lots of different species of upland birds, from quail, pheasant & chukars to grouse, ptarmigan and turkeys. Waterfowling is actually pretty good in the northeast, central interior and coast - up north hardly anyone bothers with them...too busy out chasing 'real' game.. The only people I ever see on the marsh are other transplanted easterners..

I wonder how many hunters, have hunted in all these areas,to make an informed reply!Could be one better place out there, keeps us hunting, year after year.makes it a good thing.

"Wow must not be many people from the territories, nwt has the most big game species and longest season and probally cheapest tags"

If you want to wait 2 years for a licence and you own an airplane to lessen your costs it's not too bad, but still expensive. Others have mentioned caribou (pretty much shut down unless you're treaty), polar bear, muskox, walrus (that requires going through an HTA and paying outfitting fees). Not really so good anymore and it's going to get worse. Take a look at the new Wildlife Act.

Mule deer, pheasant and Mountains? Where'd you read that? No pheasants, no mountains and our mule deer population is on par with the bigfoot population. ;)

You have not done a tour of Manitoba. They are not the coastal range, but the Riding Mountains in the mid west are wonderful. Elk are plentiful, with mulies, whitetail, blackbear and lots of smaller game The grasslands in the south central part of Manitoba has the best flyway for migratory games birds. Fall goose and duck hunts in the morning followed by grouse along the stubble fields in the afternoon are memorable. The shield area in the north east and the tundra up near the 60th offer trophy moose, black bear, guided polar bear and of course deer, wolf and many small critters. Lots of ferel pigs in the SE sandy land area, along with great whitetail, black bear hunting you will find grouse, pheasant and other small critters.

Manitoba offers some of the most diverse hunting areas and terrains available in one province. You may find bigger game with less pressure north of 60, but, you can hunt in a variety of different areas all within an easy drive amid some of the friendliest people I have ever meet. I am not knocking other areas, I have hunted and have enjoyed excellent hunts in many parts of Canada, I just have enjoy my hunting time in Manitoba the best. Period.

By the way, how large is the confirmed big foot population? Is it at least on par with the outdoor grow ops?

The two years in the nwt was worth the wait, moose, black & grizzly bear, three species of caribou ( barren land is almost off limits but both mountain and woodland are available, both r considered woodland but differant areas), wolf, wolverine, dall sheep, mountain goat. Bison and muskox tags r draws (bison is getting easier to get each year) but all other listed game tags are availible at the hardware store for 20 bucks each. I have or know some who has taken all of the above animals without a float plane (although it helps with sheep and goat , three guys can go into great sheep country for 1500$)
