I have been using a Weaver 2-7x32 Rimfire on my 10/22 for about 10 years.
I really like it. The only fault I have with it is that the field of view on 7 power is very small.
If you are only punching paper out to 100 yards or a wee bit further, then plenty of power with an AO will serve you well. If you are hunting, say, grouse with your rimfire, the AO can be a PITA, since it may be fuzzy, or display tons of parallax at a distance it is not set for. In these cases a rimfire Non-AO scope with parallax set at 50-60 yards is perfect. Regards, Eagleye.
I have a Nikon Prostaff 4x on my CZ452 but it started out on a 1022. Amazingly crisp optics and under $200. Have several Nikons now on CFs too and a Leupy on my -06. Hard to tell the difference.
I agree with Hitzy. The Bushnell Banner 3.5-10x36AO I find is a perfect "all around" scope. Mine is on my Ruger 10/22 stainless target and I am glad I bought it at the suggestion of the counter guy at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton. I was going to get a rimfire type scope but for the extra $20 odd dollars I glad I took his advise. Excellent scope for the money. I shoot out to 100m regularly.
Fellow shooters,
Title says it all. I am looking for a new scope for my 22 and was wondering about features I would want that are different than a scope for a centrefire.
Thanks for any input in advance.

The Banner line for a 22 are tough to beat in the value for the dollar, and with the amount you wish to spend at $250.00, the Weaver rimfire2-7 which I have one of is a real nice scope.
I have one of the Sportsman model Bushnells with the A/O, but it only comes in glossy black, which a lot of folks don't care for.
My favorites are the Leupold rimfires but they are now well over $300.00.
The basic difference between a centerfire scope and the rimfire is the paralax preset from the factory. If you try and use a center fire scope a close range the cross hairs tend to move around on you when you are aiming.
I tried a 3-9 Legend on one of my Win 69A's at 25 meters and it was mostly a waste of time. FS
