whats the better scope.vari 3 or VX 3?

Curious as to improvements to the VX 3. Since the Vari x is no longer available. Is it the same scope?

I have both, the VX is a little sharper and has instant focus which is nice

The VX III is sharper but tests with heavy recoiling rifles shows the Vari X III to be more rugged.

VX 111 is the current model and has better application of of coatings (multi coat 4) and the coating are" indexed matched" don't know exactly how they do that but they claim 98% light transmision through the entire scope (not just one lens) which Leupold claims is the best in the industry. In reality this means a brighter scope than the older Vari X 111. Also new model has finger adjustable wheel for wimdage and elevation that replaces the original coin slot style still used on their lesser models.
