What's the big deal?

I started as a handgun shooter so I have no problem with it being restricted. I have no land nor live near crown land so I do all of my shooting on gun ranges. I just recently got my M4, reason I didn't get one earlier was because I there were no reasonable priced options. It's a great design, compact, light, reliable, can use 10 round mags and easy to customize. .223 is cheaper too.

I was going to buy one but I did not want to have to drive to the range every time I had an urge to shoot it

I used to think that just going to the range to shoot was fun. Then I started shooting service rifle competitions, that is the real fun. Target practice is just practice, a competition with scores and prizes seperates the men from the boys and shows you where you need to improve and rewards you when you do.

I am building my 1st AR for a couple different reason...
- First as I can build it myself for a decent price with many times many options of which parts I'll get, and I just love how everything fits togheter on that design, how complex yet simple it is (does that even make sense?).
- I was issued one (close enough) when I joined the reserve at 17 and just loved the thing. I had been shooting for a long time already but nothing felt like it was made for me like that. To me it is like a rapier; light, fast, accurate, deadly... to each is own I guess.
- My wife had never shot anything before she met me, and recoils is not her forte...
- I almost feels like building one for my dad once I'm done, he is a fudd for sure, so he would never buy one for himself... but he was a machinist and is a gunnutz in his own way, I am sure he'd appreciate it for what it is. He has a decent piece of land in is backyard, so varmint better watch out once he realise what an AR can do...

lol.. I still dont get it...

Call me lazy but why choose the tougher route when you can get pretty much the same thing with less of a hassle?

I doubt the already restricted AR will change status just because more or less people own them.. so it wont make a difference if you choose a different rifle.

I go the tougher route whenever possible just to put a stick in the eye of Anne MacLellan and Alan Rock, both of who hoped I wouldn't.

But that's beside the point of why I shoot an AR.

I doubt your doubt that more AR15 owners changes nothing as well. Opinions are something we're all free to have, but are not defined reality.

Gee, that's an easy one...
