l once had 2 partridge come peck at the end of my 12 gauge while sitting next to a tree, only problem was l had a slug in it because was hunting for deer.

My uncle was bowhunting elk, and had a calf moose come up and sniff the broadhead on the arrow he nocked. He said it nuzzled the arrow of his rest.

not during hunting but in the spring. a fawn was spooked (by my parents and i walking in the trails) however it ran right towards us until it froze up on the trail 10 feet away. the look on its face when it realized people were on the trail was priceless.

Sitting on a nice quiet cut line when a dozen deer came busting out of the trees being chased by a dozen and a half wolves. Shot 3 wolves less than a minute later, one was the Alpha male. Nailed them with my Mosin from Westrifle using iron sites and 203gr soft points. The fur was not in the best of shape. No deer that day.

Back in the day, when I was a student studying Engineering... A buddy & I decided to drive some roads looking for deer... Ya ya, I know, NOT my idea, but he knew the logging roads in the area... So off we went...

Well, going down the first road, we meet up with a old guy, had to be 90 years old... When he rolled up in his old beat up car, we rolled our windows down & had a GREAT chat. Things I remember about the chance encounter, the old guy was carrying a Lee Enfield that he had had FOREVER... And he was out to get his deer... Next thing I remember is the old guy might have had ONE tooth in his head, so I've always wondered how he chewed meat...

Great memory! Still like it was yesterday!

Cheers

I remember meeting a guy by the name of Dan from Powell River while I was hunting on Texada Island, he was busy telling us that the area behind the airport was given to the archery club's sole use for hunting because there was a plane on the tarmac with a few bullet holes in it..........
Needless to say that Dan and the Archery Club were ousted from thinking they had sole rights to the area and that it was archery only shortly after that as the owners of the property wanted the deer dead and the trees alive...............

Many years ago my buddy sitting next to me in the blind had a goose drop a deuce on his head when they were swinging in to the decoys. He refused to wash the hat because it was good luck.

Two deer with one shot totally unintentional! Was my first year hunting, dusk on closing day, turned around to go back to the truck and a deer about 10 yards away, shot it with buckshot (shotgun/bow only area) and another rather small one about 25 yards behind him dropped right there. Those were the first animals I ever hunted in my life and what a great introduction it was!

Had a fawn go threw my legs and its twin side swiped me and just about knocked me down a couple years ago. I was in a swamp in the long grass checking my trail camera on a main deer trail. I was looking at the pictures and didn't even see the doe and two fawns coming my way, The doe smelt me last second at about 10 yards and snorted and took off to my left, the fawns ran right down the trail and I couldn't get out of the way, The fawn bawled when it went threw my legs , neerly bagging me. I had a good laugh when it was all said and done.

I was out with a friend one summer looking for some rabbits. The area we were at had this wide long river canyon out of the tree line. Off in the distance we could see a guy by the river and just figured he was fishing or something. As we do a lot of long range shooting I happend to have my spotting scope in my back pack. Curious if he got any fish we pulled out the 60x zoom to take a look. Boy were we suprised. He was not fishing at all ! What we were looking at was a dude casualy walking around in the middle of nowhere wearing nothing but a black G-string lol.

Needles to say that was the funniest and most strange thing I've ever seen

Man, If he was a politician you could have made some coin by snapping a few pics!

One that stands out for me is calling in a medium size rut numb bull moose while hunting elk. He came to within a couple yards of me. At this point my hunting partner who was watching the downwind side down a cutline stood up and waved at the bull to distract him (knowing the bull was lumbering over me within a few feet). The bull looked at him for a few seconds and then turned around, looked at me, exhaled deeply and sauntered off grunting with every step.

Also had a stare down with one of the bigger black bears I have seen at just a few yards while trying to intercept some elk leaving an oat field....Played cat and mouse with a grizz in an area where during the g bear census they didn't exist...but now hunters are warned about them and black bear baiting in the area is no longer allowed b/c of grizzlies getting a taste for bait foods.

Siting on the bank of a creek one time duck hunting two chipmunks were scurrying around fighting. One ran and hid under my boot. The other stopped a few feet away and looked at me. He chirped something to his buddy who looked up from under my boot at me, then panicked and took off running......lol!

I've been out grouse hunting and decided to take a walk on a trail through thicker brush. Hear a rustle and this young black squirrel hops out not 2 feet in front of me. It stops to take a look at this new visitor, proceeds to hop up on its hind legs and stretch out to sniff the muzzle of my 12g. I decided to just let it run off rather than spook anything in the area.
