Been thinking on buying a new gun this year and am interested in the WSM's.I know there are advantages and disadvantages to the regular length(long action) and WSM and weighed them in and still like the shorts but the price of factory ammo is startling.
Im not a handloader(yet) and owned a 300WM a few years ago and could buy a box at CT for sighting in at the range(winchester grey box) for $27 I think.Pricing the WSM your looking at $35 plus.My appologies for not having the exact amount, been a while since I priced checked but the WSM's seem to be more expensive.
Less brass-Less powder yet more expensive.?

I know the 270 WSM is what I need, just trying to convince myself on the 300:rolleyes:

If $8 bucks is a big deal for you, you should probably stay away from the WSM line. Its the same deal with the .270 Win and .270 WSM.

$8 isnt a big deal-lol-If it was I wouldent be considering a WSM,
As already mentioned,I dont know the Exact pricing--my bad-But I do know the WSM's are considerably more then the comparative 300 WM and 270 Win.Just wondering why all being equal, why the WSM's are more expensive with less brass and less powder.

Why is it when ever I read the words "what's the deal with...." It sounds like Sienfeld's voice in my head?

I will gladly pay $30 a box if it groups under 1/2in. My handloads cost me under $10 a box but the hour of labour I save with factory can be a bonus....$20 per hour labour and I come out even....

apparently animals haven't changed much in the last 100 years,

Personally I consulted older successful deer hunters,

and I bought a 270. Win. (savage 111 fcns)

but that`s me and my silly ideas about shot placement being crucial to actually taking the shot.

If I listened to the hype spewing from the WSS counter persons, I would be into a 270 WSM and loving it, it is a good round (the 270 WSM is one of the betterish WSM`s I hear) . I imagine that extra 100 fps is a real game changer for some folks (wink).

I had to make that same decision 2 years ago and that`s how it played out for me personally.

I`m 36 and I`m old school already, lol

Who gets paid to hand load at home? Which my wife would pay me 20 bucks an hour to load at home instead of the honey to do list.

....did someone say OLD SCHOOL????
