We had a member at our range who shortened the 16" barrel on his HK94, to make it an MP5 clone. He had to send it to HK USA (this was back in the early '90's). Apparently it's really hard to remove an HK barrel (?), because it took nearly a year to get it back. I should have bought an HK SP89 pistol when they first came out (about a month before they were prohibited :p ). I think they were around $1500.00 at the time. I could have put a folding stock on it, and made a PDW clone. Argh.

If you did buy the SP89, it would have been money out the window. The SP89 was declared prohibited without grandfathering, and all were ordered confiscated. Therefore you still would not have grandfather status and been out the $1500.

R.R.'s new barrel/HK94 took almost 2 years to get back, it was seized by ATF. It did miraculously show up at his res. one day without warning. Thereby demonstrating the value in proper paper work.

Hey thanks, now I don't feel so bad :D . Guess I should have bought one of the cheap surplus Uzi's when I had the chance.
