What's the deal with my 597?

Do yourself a favour, just buy a Mossberg Plinkster, shoots all ammo without the jam-ups, it cost less and is just as accurate,mind-you can only get 10 round mags at the moment.

i was @ the range on sunday with a guy who was shooting one of those, he was always clearing jams!

You must either gun gunsmith of the year, or have a gun with magical non-jamming powers.

The rifle has just over 16k rounds through it now... Its well broken in and smooth like butter. Like every semi auto it had a few teething issues, a crappy stock extractor and me tightening the guide rails too much in the early days. After 3 bulk packs it had smoothed up considerably and has ran perfect for the last couple of years. My father has a 597 YellowJacket, has had a few extraction issues with it. He has around 200 rounds through it. I replaced the stock extractor with a VQ one and that has seemed to help.

No it doesn't!!

It particularly dislikes Winchester Super-X ammo (it's a ##### to load in the magazines because the cases are slightly longer), and it hates Remington Thunderbolt ammo.

Best stuff I've found so far is Remington Viper and American Eagle in mine.
