What's the deal with semi-auto?

Besides a stratospheric price tag opposed to pumps why does it seem all semi-auto shotguns skimp on mag capacity

2+1 is the max you can have waterfowling in Canada (I believe the same for our southern neighbours as well...?). Otherwise it's up to 5 for semi's.

So the hunting regulation for magazine capacity is not limited to just semi-auto shotguns? I think they have similar regulations in some US states.

Does this mean I can't use my 870 w/7 shot tube magazine for hunting unless I have it plugged to 3 shots?

In Ontario for any shotgun hunting a pump or semi must be limited to 2 shots in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Yes. You are in ON, any repeating shotgun is limited to 2+1 shots for hunting.
