What's the deal with the Colt 9mms

I like the 9mm idea.

Recently black dog machining made some .22lr mags with the same concept mentioned in mind.

Although ther "LCF" is heightened in general the idea goes against logic. Making a .223 sized mag for 9mm is wasted space.

They are a bit over valued - especially the 16". They are relatively simple firearms that it is relatively easy to make right - don't need to pay the premium for the Colt. I would not mind buying a used RRA 9mm at all. Afterall, it is a 9mm - it will last forever. Besides, subgun is a bit outdated - why do I need a 10" or 16" tube that shoots 9mm. I would rather take a TP9.

I must have missed the #####ing??. I guess most of you guys are right, I have had several Colt 9mm guns that all worked well. The two biggest issues were the price of gun and mags, the only issue I had with the mags themselves was that they are Pez dispensers should they be bumped. I have also noticed that C Products makes a Stainless magazine for Colt pattern guns that are less than 30.00 USD...

I've never really had a problem with Colt 9mm mags. As for the 9mm Carbine - the only reason I'd NEED one is cause the round is easy to supress - and unless Canada decides to roll back gun laws to 1934 - I dont think I'm getting one.

That said as any self respecting Colt collector goes - you need at least one.

Even for suppressed I would think a .45 SMG would be smarter since the rounds are already subsonic and higher mass then 9mm. Anyhow I dont see the need for 9mm unless you can get the ammo very cheap and want to save on 223. Or if your into shooting in closed spaces and dont want the loud sound of the full house 223.

Wes, that's the number one reason a couple of my buds have gone to the 9mm system, the cost of .223 lately has gone crazy and since they an AR system anyway the Colt pattern Rock River guns provide a cheaper alternative.

Yep, lots of benifits to a 9mm AR. Like it's been said they're cheaper to feed, quieter for newbies, you can shoot them on the pistol range (some places anyways) if the rifle range is to busy and some people can shoot them indoor in the winter.

Lots of benifits.
