What's the deal with the Neostead 2000?

I'm a sucker for weird and unusual firearms.

I know the NS2000 is legal in Canada, but how can you go about getting one? Is it one of those things where one batch was ordered like 30 years ago and no one has ever stocked up again? Are they even still in production?

Anyone have any info?

Seems like any official websites are now defunct and any Canadian listings are years old.
 
They only made about 200 or so of them commercially in South Africa in the early 2000's. If I recall Wolverine was the importer. I know some made it here, I have seen and held one personally, they are deceptively heavy, even unloaded. But very cool and spacey.
 
I've had the chance to play with one a little bit- definitely has a more space-age feel that the UTAS, and feels more solid. With that being said, they're scarce as hen's teeth, and the forward-cycling pump action is wacky to say the least. A very cool collector's piece, but not a practical shooter by any means.

It seems like no matter what type of item you're looking for, someone will always recommend buying a different item entirely. Very useful advice I could never think of myself haha
