What's the difference between Cooey model 60 and model 600 ?

Production dates?.....;)

Also, some of the 600's had a grooved rail on top for scope-mounting.....as oppose to the side-mounts you'd often see on the 60......:)

google cooey 60 rifle....there are a couple videos showing both rifles The 60 video shows the side mount drill ed and tapped holes. Different manufacure dates too as 60 was made 39 til 67 and the 600 after that date. The mag tube may be a different capacity also.

I have a 600 that is drilled and tapped for a side mount. The barrel is 24 inches.
I have no idea of age of the rifle, but it has the pressed in checkering, with the bunny rabbit embossed on the wrist. That looks like what they were doing circa 1970.

When the 600 was grooved on the receiver for a scope, then the barrel was reduced by 2". I have both the 60 (drilled on the left side for scope mounting) and the grooved 600 and there is a 2" difference in barrel length.

Ironsides1, could you take a pic and post it here? Do you think a machinist could cut a groove in a model 60 or are there other differences that would make this impossible?

Cheers,

Fish

I will let you in on a secret, if you don't tell anyone.
I once put scope mounts on a Cooey, and only used J-B Weld.
It held solid through use and was still on there, solid as a rock, when I finally sold the rifle.

Must be, as that describes mine, too....:)

Here is the pictures of mine. It says made by Winchester, but as you will see, drilled and tapped, and no grooves. Also, has a plain buttplate.

Do you, or anyone else, know what an average price range on these would be?
I took mine on a trade and will be selling it.

Most I have seen in the EEs have a price tag of between $100 and $150. A little more if it is c/w scope and mount. there are really a lot of them being bought and resold recently.

Mom and Dad bought me a brand spankin' new 600 ( same as photo'd above ) when I first got my gun licence on my 15th birthday...1971.
Seen a few for sale lately for $150 , give or take.
