I just got a glock 22 in .40 cal and noticed it seems to have a different printing then the ones I seen on this forum. (GA, SMYRNA) and mine is printed Made in Austria Ges.m.b.H

Beside the importation pattern, is there any difference at all?
thanks

sorry for english I speak french

You guys may all know this already, but I'll say it anyway.

"Ges.m.b.H." has nothing to do with firearms, it is basically the German/Austrian/Swiss version of "Inc.", "Ltd.", "Corp.", "LLP", etc. Usually it is written as "GmbH". Long form is "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung", meaning "limited liability business association".

The other German abbreviation is "AG", which is for companies traded on a stock market.

GLOCK is a GmbH headquartered in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria. As I understand it, all the guns are still made there. U.S. federal law requires the importer of a firearm to mark the firearm - hence the Smyrna, Georgia thing... the location of their U.S. subsidiary that imports GLOCK's into the U.S.

I remember hearing something about GLOCK doing some manufacturing in the U.S., like SIG does... but I don't know how far that has come along. Someone on here will know. As far as I know all the guns are made in Austria - import marks vary by country. Almost all the GLOCKs in Canada make their way through the U.S. first - so the one without Smyrna is more "rare" in a sense.

Some of the models are being made in the US now (have been for a while actually).

Typically these will NOT have mention of Austria on them and only have the Smyrna markings.

Glock has set up an American operation to make frames...
I'm not sure if they have done the same for slides.
